Re: The Pickled Egg trivia quiz
Try this one,
.. discover the answer and use it in a pub quiz. ( maybe more likely to crop up in an Auberge Quiz) or add it to your small talk armoury when the conversation lulls...
Who's this bloke?

Yes you are getting warm Steve-just have to look through those old "Fashion through the Ages" books and you will get roughly the right century from the popularity of the Ruff across Europe!

Re: The Pickled Egg trivia quiz
I'll give you that Steve close enough for me, the chap on the helpful hints side is indeed Sir Walter he with the Nottingham Bicycle Manufacturer's surname.
But the bloke on the left is the one we are after.
He is French but has something in common with Walt (as Bob Newhart used to refer to him as). It shouldn't be too hard to work out the subject of the link. Unlike Walt, his name lives on associated mainly with the link.

Keep going everyone we will get there eventually. Its the French Bloke on the Left we need the name of.
In the meantime this is what our Frenchman had in common with Walt.....(only in France)
Enjoy Bob Newharts take on it....

REgards NeilNumber 2 (3 Spanner degree of difficulty)
Who opened the Chiswick Flyover, and what was the type and registration of the car used?

While we wait for the participation avalanche a small clue
Think of Neil Armstrong's second most famous utterance, a worse accent than Dick Van Dyke by one of the leading characters, and look the locations of the pictures up on wiki!
and yes it formed part of the entertainment fest on Bank Holiday Monday telly.

A case of "equus mortuus verbera" perhaps but I'll let it run a little longer, and supply the odd colateral fact on the locations/link to amuse myself if nothing else.
So...any Black Sabbath fans, any got this album, their very first from 1970, perhaps?

Well that is Mapledurham Mill, part of the Mapledurham estate in the background!

As for Hawkwind, they are having a 50th Anniversary tour this year! and doing Glastonbury.Anyone remember Hawkwind?
Well guess what, Alan Arthurs, who toured with Hawkwind for 10 years, and was responsible for many of their album covers, as well as their stage sets, is now based near Charlestown in Cornwall. Because "Alan does not do social media, computers or the internet" he sells his work through the Atishoo Gallery in Charlestown
