Hi chaps...AX question.
I have pulled one of the the door locks out from the AX (keys lost) to check for a code on the barrel.
There is one...a 2x letter code....would this relate to the "key cut".
Basically trying to avoid swapping all locks....
Cheers.

I don't know what type of key the AX uses, but if it's a 'standard' type key then a decent locksmith should be able to cut a key to fit if you present them with just the barrel.

I think they are longer codes than that Alasdair, but the dealer should have the codes with proof of ownership and a few quid.

Re: Door lock Key code on barrel ?
On Citroens of that era the key code would be at least 7 digits, the last 5 numbers are the actual cut depths then there is a 2-3 digit code preceding that that is the type of blank the key is.
There were a few different types of keys used on the AX over the years, if it is the type with wafers rather than pins inside the lock the individual wafers may have their numbers stamped on them, you would need to dismantle the lock to remove the wafers to see.

Thanks for noticing. This is an MO used by spammers to get into forums, they take a quote from one forum and use it as a first post on another. We were getting several each week a couple of years ago, but this is the first I have seen in a while.wheeler wrote: 18 May 2022, 17:07 Strange, another forum i post on just the other day had a spam post like this from a new user who had just registered & resurrected a years old post about a lost keys then saying how he used a London locksmith for this.![]()
I have now deleted the user and his post (which was between wheeler's posts in this topic).

I saw that one too and gave more than a glancing look over it, but let it go at the time.

I looked at him and was suspicious, was actually mulling over ditching him when there he was - gone!
