X7 Front Bumper Removal

Post by Trainman »

When trying to change the DRL I’ve managed to drop the Torx bit, so I now have to remove the front bumper, does anybody have a diagram or tips?

That’s why I put some blue tack into the torx ratchet to hold the bit in and then tied the ratchet to my wrist with some string as there was no way I was going the bumper route. 😀

I'd try "fishing" for it with a magnet on a wire or string, first. Is that possible?

Almost impossible - you can see bu**er all in there and there is literally no room to manoeuvre, but worth a shot.

Go and buy another bit and hope the lost one doesn't rattle!

Coincidentally, I dropped one of the timing pins down the bonnet latch hole today. Heard it roll out view but it soon dropped to the ground after bouncing the front of the car rather harshly. Mech also dropped several items while working on it but they all fell to the ground thankfully.

I did the same - except I decided it was easier to get another bit.
