I can't make my mind C5 Mk2 2.0HDI 136 or 2.2HDI 173??

Hello, I am new member of this forum (I am deaf sorry my grammar is not a great), my old C5 MK1 2.0HDI 110 it was sold yesterday because I get bored with car and owned it for 7 years a great engine but I wish it add 6th gear, so I want to buy other C5 but is MK2. I have found out that 1.6HDI was not great engine because of reliability issue with oil feed pipe to turbo could clot cause blow turbo and weaking injector seal leaking rule out that 1.6HDI.

How good is the 2.0HDI 136 over the my old 2.0HDI 110? I felt like go for the 2.2DHI 173 but it have two turbo and looks of engine space is quite tight I think for maintenance like belt change, turbo replace it would cost for mechanical labour more over the 2.0HDI 136. It does not bother me about the running cost it is about reliability and great for my holiday long cruise motorway to Western of Scotland. Do you think the 2.0HDI 136 would keep me well the next 7 years than the 2.2 HDI 173?

The 2.0 136hdi is just as good as the 8v hdi 110. Do not go for a 2.2 136 hdi (alloy inlet) many that have been neglected can cause big headaches.. The 2.0 16v hdi 138 is a different design and better. Inlets can come off without injectors needing removing.
The usual counts oil changes every 10k you can't go wrong with them. Many known of with good milage 200k plus..
Sharing a pug 207 1.6 hdi Sw 16v.

I had the 2.0 138BHP with DW10BTED4 engine and had no issues at all with it - very reliable and was also used in the MK III X7.

I saw one today and already been look at it is perfect condition the body and interior. I asked the garage seller for MOT and full of service history. I have been look through found on MOT last month one advisory on "Oil mist on O/S/F shock absorber" the car have done only 72,345 miles should I be avoid? I never had any issue with hydropneumatic on my old C5 before with 137,000 miles but this one seem a low mileage with something should have not happen or is the MOT fuss about tiny grease on damper? I look at the damper I can't barley see well any leaking when the car was drop low and rise high.

These do mist on a MK I and MK II, it’s more a lack of understanding by MOT testers, but they cannot fail it on that unless it is significantly leaking with a small pool of oil accumulated.

These have leak back return pipes where some oil can run, but normally is nothing to be concerned about. Just clean it up before any future MOT or take it somewhere that knows what they’re on about.
