Hello everyone,
I'm very glad to become a part of this forum, since nearly all the other forums (or "fora"? A bit too nerdy of me, sorry) have apparently ceased to exist.
My name is Alexander and I currently live in Portugal, though I am originally from the British Isles. My father was a big Citroen enthusiast, having owned more CXs than I can count, various Visas, an Ami6 and an Ami8, and two Citroen BXs, the last of which became my first car when he passed away.
I dabbled in some other brands after the BX, namely Volvo and Mazda, but I could never resist the pull of La Marque and got myself a C5 Tourer. I haven't had it for long, but it truly feels like I've come home. Even my partner is thrilled with the car, though she too is a Citroen fan and has only ever owned a venerable 1994 Citroen AX that still defies its age to this day.
I'd like to also help contribute to this forum, since forums like this have helped me out for nearly my whole motoring life, as well as sites like the brilliant Hungarian Citroen BX pagehttp://citroen.tramontana.co.hu/en. Even though the car feels like the years haven't passed it by that fast (it's now nearly 11 years old and more than 155,000 miles on it, though it doesn't feel like it), it still needs some work. Whatever I do to the car, I hope to document and post it all here, since this is the sort of thing that helps keep car enthusiasts hooked and our favourite brands alive.

Hi, and a welcome.
You've landed in the right place here, with lots of friendly help on tap.
Second your praise for Gabor's http://citroen.tramontana.co.hu/en, where there are many excellent explanatory and help documents, all well illustrated.
We towed our caravan from UK to Portugal (Duero, Oporto...) back in '96 with our then '89 BX19RD.
Look forward to more posts!

Thank you all very much for the welcome!
white exec, that trip from the UK to Portugal sounds fantastic. It was a route I used to do as a child during the summer holidays, always in the back of a Citroen CX!

A few old pics of that 1996 trip...
The outfit (a Swift Corniche)... Spain-Portugal border post (disused). From here on, into Portugal, undulating cobblestones, 2nd gear for an hour or two, and one 'van tyre written off... River Duero countryside... A rather memorable tour of Grahams Port establishment in Oporto, with the last of some 40-year-old (for the directors' dinner that night) routed our way. Something rather special.

Welcome citroC5.

Re: Hello from a 2nd generation Citroeniste
That was certainly a treat! It's amazing to see some of those things. One aspect you mentioned was the contrast between the good roads in Spain and the terrible roads as soon as you crossed the border into Portugal. It was utterly mind-boggling! It's not so bad now, though the countryside remains mainly the same, with unending twisty, narrow roads.
Thanks for sharing, I really appreciate it!
