Dv6 engine question
Good morning everyone
I’ve just purchased a 2012 berlingo which the engine has gone on it
I’m trying to source an engine for it but there’s loads of variants of the Dv6eted
My question is does anyone know the difference between a DV6DTED (9HP) engine and a DV6ETED (9HN)?
Was hoping to fit a 9hp in my 9hn
Any info would be really appreciated
Thanks

Re: Dv6 engine question
Hi, and to the forum.
While I personally am not going to be able to help you, might I suggest that you post up the VIN (don't worry about security; it will be obscured automatically, but Moderators will be able to read it). Then the Moderators can see what your vehicle had when she left the factory. That way the Moderators can help determine what is possible, what would need to be replaced, and what can be kept.

Re: Dv6 engine question
I need your VIN if you want an answer, - there are 4 versions over the years of the Berlingo (Private & Commercial), each with different engines. It's too time consuming to look through each. I should be able to advise you once I have identified the correct vehicle range.

Re: Dv6 engine question
Ok, so you have a Berlingo Utility Vehicle (B9) VAN 1.6 HDi 75 (DV6ETED4) with manual gearbox 5.
Information is limited, but the main differences are in the table below. I have shown the difference in the end column.
However, looking at the associated injection ECU for example, for each of these 2 engines - they are crucially different parts listed. There are 7 separate Diesel engine ECUs listed for engines in the DV6 range, and I cannot obviously tell you what other components are different as they are too numerous to check with all the variants, but the 9HP is a slightly more powerful engine.

Re: Dv6 engine question
Ok that’s great, I think I’m going to go for the 9hp engine I’ve seen and just put both engines next to each other and see if there’s any differences between the components.
I don’t suppose you could tell me if the turbos are the same?
Thanks again

Re: Dv6 engine question
Again, there are different variants of these - without a VIN for the potential donor vehicle I have nothing to compare it with. If you can get the VIN or reg of the intended PSA donor vehicle I can compare the components for you.

Re: Dv6 engine question
Hi guys, quick update on the outcome of my question
I’m the end I went for a low mileage dv6dted engine (9hp) my engine was a dv6eted 9hn.
All the engine loom was identical, injectors coded in fine, the only thing I had to swap over was my alternator and bracket as the donor engine has aircon.
As my turbo had blown on the old engine I looked out for a complete engine inc ancilerries, found a bargain complete with turbo, injectors, inlet/exhaust manifolds etc.
I compared them all to my 9hn engine and everything was identical
A new Cambelt kit and clutch kit were fitted along with a full service kit and it’s all up and running like a dream
I hope this helps someone in the future in my position
Thanks for all the help

Re: Dv6 engine question
Hi D11nyd 1,
I'm in a similar situation, I need to replace my 9HN other than the injector coding did the 9HP require swapping over the diesel pump from the old engine? I was told it maybe coded to the ecu.
Thanks for posting your info for someone like my self to make use of.

Re: Dv6 engine question
Hi no used the same pump
Everything looked identical
The only the I changed over once the engine was fitted was the glow plugs as it brought up a fault as they must of been different specs
Hope that helps
