Relay 2006 2.0 - not starting

Post by sieski »

This vehicle has been off the road for 4-5 months. Ran fine before. Put a battery on it (not new but seems ok) Tried starting it and nothing. Used jump leads in case battery wasnt good enough to increase cranking speed if batter was lack lusture. Still no difference.

Hooked up lexia and got this fault p1671 Fuel pressure regulator short circuit to earth or open circuit. Tested connector and wire and it wasn't grounding. The pins on the pressure regulator was. Replaced part. Fault cleared with new part. Still doesnt start.

Disconnected fuel to HP pump and fuel is being pumped to it. Disconnect supply pipe to rail and nothing comes out the pump. Not sure if this is a fault of the pump or if the regulator wont let fuel through with rail disconnected.

Lexia shows 4 bars of fuel pressure measured when cranking which I know is miles of. Lexia desires 326.

Starts on easy start.

Leak off test shows no fuel leaking.. though I suspect nothing is getting to injectors.

High pressure pump 3rd piston deactivation actuator test works
HP fuel regulator actuator test works

Immobiliser shows as deactivated.

Stuck now. High pressure sensor on rail? what should cranking speed be?

Sounds like an immobiliser problem - i have seen this before when they are not in use for some time. Cant remember the remedy though!

Are you sure the starter is turning fast enough the 2.0hdi have a habit of slow starter faults.

Immobiliser shows as deactivated in lexia as mentioned.

Cranking speed... Good question. If anyone knows what it should be then I can check what it is in lexia before just throwing parts at it.

Im assuming this is a mk 2 Relay with the PSA engine & not a mk3 with the Ford engine?
Is the low pressure fuel pump operating? there is an access panel in the cab floor to get into it.

Yes low pressure pump is working. When I disconnect fuel supply pipe to hp pump from filter it flys out. Not sure of the engine. But it does have the pump where mentioned which operates. 2hen panel is lifted

It's not the immobiliser . Had it tested today and confirms what my diagbox/lexia is saying.

It would be more helpful to pop your VIN up, so we know exactly what you do and don't have and will save a lot of time guessing.

Disconnect the fuel rail pressure sensor & watch the reading, it should go to a default value of around 400ish bar. If it was just a faulty sensor the engine should then at least start.
