Xsara Picasso 56 plate clutch change

Post by Jmh474 »

As you can guess with the title it's about my picasso. I'm hoping someone out there can give me a little guidance.

My clutch is on the way out the biting point is about 15mm from the top (as you depress the clutch), iv stalled it a few times trying to pull off.

As you can guess you'll know what question I'm going to ask next

?HOW HARD IS THIS TO DO AT HOME?

I've carried out quite a lot of home repairs and every thing went well
- electrical and mechanical -
I just hoping there may be a guide out there some where I can look over or watch before I undertake this task.

I know there is a vast range of Professionals out there to choose from and believe me I would but I can just about afford a new clutch kit, and haven a family makes it very hard to be without a car especially with all the little ones appointments.

So as you can guess I'm on my hands and knees just asking for a little bit of help and advice.

Thanks

First thing you need to do is pop your VIN up, so we know the exact model you have. Depending on your model, you may also have a dual mass flywheel, which makes things a difference - as that should realistically be done if you do have one.

Ok, so you have a XSARA PICASSO FAMILY SALOON 1.6 i 16v 110 (TU5JP4) Manual gearbox 5, so no DMF.

Others who have done this on a 1.6 petrol should be able to help you with this.

I can't think anyone's done one of these, but there is a Haynes for this model, so it should be detailed in there. It shouldn't be too hard if you are reasonably well equipped.
