Good thinking Zel and it would be instructive to look at the crank pulley and make sure the pulley bolt is still tight... They can come loose and often this results in damage to the crank belt sprocket and the crankshaft keyway...
This bolt really does need to be Loctited and done up FT...
I once encountered one that had worked loose and would just not tighten up or stay tight afterwards... Ended up running a bead of weld across the bolt head, washer and pulley to lock it firmly... That worked
