Maybe easier one encouage participation :-D

I am sure many will find this easy.

What is the connection (there may be more than 1!) between a South Shields Lad, and Space X's mission reported today :?:

I will de-mistify the question if necessary

The only thing I can think of is something to do with Alien or Blade Runner.
The person in question being Ridley Scott.

Yes Ridley Scott is the South Shields lad, but there was something very specific about the Space X mission itself which the cast list of Alien will reveal.

Yes well done, saw that on the news, and wondered why they had called it Ripley.

...for the avoidance of doubt - Ripley is the thing in the white spacesuit to the right of the image... not the woman in the middle, nor the little earth floating around

...well "ThirdReichRuins" comes up with the goods on Stadtilm
http://www.thirdreichruins.com/misc_sites.htm

"German scientists worked on a nuclear reactor, and possibly an atomic bomb, in the city of Stadtilm in Thüringen. A laboratory for the development of nuclear power was located in the basement of this school building in Stadtilm in 1945. The work was fairly far progressed when the war ended, but there is little evidence that the Germans were anywhere close to developing an atomic bomb (although persistent rumors of nuclear tests remain). This may have been due to Hitler's apparent skepticism that such a weapon was possible. "
So we have Nuclear Power as the link, unless there is something more specific, to be teased out.

Spot on, Neil - you've definitely earned some bonus points with that one :-D
Although not immediately apparent, the 3 storey building in the picture on Geoff Walden's site is the same building in the picture I used... it's just that it's had the top 2 floors removed at some point. The cube mounted into the pavement in front of the building is representative of the Uranium cubes used in the first reactor tests.
And ever wondered what a basement used to test a nuclear reactor looks like ??? Thought not, but I'll show you anyway
Stadtilm basement - own work
