Trying to find 1987 D978CNR pug 305 break d-turbo in olive green

Post by Baja juan »

Hi.

This is actually not much to do with me, but i had a login for this forum from a long time ago so i posted it. Just relaying the message. Im not a contributing member here but my login still worked so i figured id help with publicizing this to as many people as possible. I hope mods dont mind.

There was a very distinctive car, an olive green 305 break, converted to d-turbo and 5 speed manual. It had various distinctive features like a custom hydraulic clutch conversion and berlingo seats and a lot of other things, real hand-built car.

It was last seen in south Uk. Associated with some dudes from the music industry, and the guy who built most of it used to be very active in the uk retro car scene.

Some of the people who operated it are now trying to track down what happened to it.

Hasnt been road legal for a while which is worrying.

I believe these people would really like to get in touch with whoever owns it now.

Please keep an eye out for it and if anybody spots it please pm me and i will relay this info to the people concerned.

Thank you

https://vehicleenquiry.service.gov.uk/ViewVehicle then put the reg in, it's on a sorn, mot expired jan 2017
Send a stamped blank envelope and a SAE to DVLA requesting them to send it on to the owner. They have done this in the past but can't give you the owners details. It's then up to the owner??
Pete
Notice the BX is still top the list but sadly gone

Hi.

Thank you very much for your help.

I just talked to the DVLA and the DVLA guy had to ask their manager to confirm and said that this is not a service they provide or have ever provided.

Strange. You'd think they would know. Pfft. Feds.

I tried a similar search (for my old Rolls) of the US DMV, they sent me a request for money and a huge form to fill in with no promise of a result.

Seems its impossible to find out the current owner of a car in the uk, its illegal because of some rules about personal info or something.

Moizeau;
Do you actually have confirmed first-hand experience of this process with the envelopes you described working successfully?

Thank you

Im pretty sure this car would be sitting on someones driveway.

Turns out someone else involved with this project had an update from a while ago. They Managed to find out who it was sold to when it disappeared, but writing a letter to that address got no reply, and the person who signed for the letter had an entirely different name. Obviously that doesn't mean very much, its not the 1800s anymore and households dont all have the same last name, but still, i think its likely that different people live there probably.

Also nobody replied.
