citroen uk

Post by picassodad »

What a waste of space Citroen uk really are. Don't bother asking them for any tech info or anything else really about their cars as they know "£$7K all, or wont tell, probably the former.

The dealer network is just as bad, which i feel are useless. This place on the other hand is brilliant and I will support it as much as possible with feedback as to the problems with the picasso, and anything else I can help with, through experience.

Long live the French Car Forum!!

They won't supply anything like that I'm afraid - it's how they make their money on after sales / servicing!

All they'll do is sell you the parts. Citroen / PSA Groupe are not alone - it's just how the market works. Although they are not allowed to have the monopoly on servicing your car by law, they have to make their specialist diagnostic tools available to third party companies and their servicing materials - BUT there is a cost for doing so.

They charge non main dealer garages a significant amount for the use of their official tools on a lease basis, (£2,200 per year) currently.

Equipment can be leased for a 3 year period - plus a choice of access fees to their technical documentation. So unless garages do a lot of work on PSA vehicles it won't be viable to subscribe to their services. They also require some training programmes to be completed before using their diagnostic tools.

For access to technical documentation, garages can pay on a vehicle by vehicle basis for a time limited period for certain diagnostic info - but like I said the charge starts straight away from order and is not based on time spent accessing data, so the purchased time ticks down from order - so has to be used straight away.

Most large corporate HQ's are now geared up to provide technical support to dealers and service organisations, and not directly to end-users or retail customers. Have found Citroen HQ generally helpful, but you need to phrase your enquiry in the just the right way, and home in on the right department, which sometimes isn't easy. Recent contact with Sony turned out unexpectedly disappointing . . . long gone are the days when I knew names and names of their departments in Staines, Newbury and Brooklands.

Your post is there at the top - we haven't taken it down, it was just moved from the 'Technical' forum to the more general 'Off Topic' section of the Forum. No apologies necessary.

You'd think that e-mail would make it simple to get any query to the appropriate quarter, within any copporate structure - & sometimes it is: Hilka were fabulous over my rattlegun's battery that wouldn't charge. At the other extreme I've found Hella & Continental to be absoluyely useless - unlike their respective products.

As for PSA, I do wonder how M. le Garagiste Rustique manages (never mind his oppo. under a tree in a former colony)
