That Firestick is brilliant, works a treat, cheap and well made. We bought a Samsung smart TV about six years ago and gradually its 'smartness' dissapeared and Ebay was one of the first to go, we now have that and all our other programs back. 8-)

Jim, one program you might want to watch is "Billy Connolly; Made IN Scotland". It turns out, in his youth, Billy cycled a lot.

Came across this video about Andersons Garage Ayr Road Newton Mearns. It tells the story over a few decades ending up with the Avenger, for all avenger fans. When I say tells the story, its been put together from 16mm and there is no sound, and no commentator put putting their spin on the pictures.

Curiously, although preserved in the National Library of Scotland Moving Image Archive, the film is in copyright just in case someone from Hollywood spots it being publicised on the FCF and wants to make a blockbuster movie out of it you will have to visit this link to view it.

National Library of Scotland Moving Image Archive-Andersons Garage

Plenty in it to interest me, and possibly anyone who has owned a "Rootes Group" car in the 50's, 60's or 70's, or those interested in spotting dodgy health and safety practices.

Oh! to own just a couple of the cars shown in those films

Lovely to see what I guess to be a Scammell Scarab in use
Scammell Scarab - National Library of Scotland, fair use.

Well found! Filled in the story with some nice detail. Had a look on google streetview to see if Andersons had survived...but all I saw was the big ASDA! I liked the digger digging the pit in the garage, and its efforts to get out on the makeshift piles of sleepers!

Springing out of the Vauxpedia and Peter's 1956 Cresta is this 15minute film about the testing of those 1950's vehicles. Could make 15 minutes seem a long time but for me I lap this sort of thing up. Tell you what by the end of 15minutes I was totally sold.....what a tremendous amount of care taken over proper testing...where do I sign up for a new Vauxhall Velox/Wyvern.

There are little gems to be found throughout...Ive mentioned the 50 times up Porlock hill thing on my POTD post but heres a few highlights for me.
The commentary and the phrases used
"Well they are looking for cold weather and they find it. Austria obliges with some really arctic stuff. Admirable for checking heater efficiency, ease of starting and handling qualities on snow covered roads.
The refreshingly analogue methods
"Protractors are fitted to the front wheels, and to the steering wheel and a theodolite is fitted inside the car." Heres the bloke inside the car with his theodlite
temp5.png
Too many more to mention, here it is, stay with it you will find most of the production was for export, (as the couple of stickers "Export" and "Canada" slapped on the windscreen at the end of the film testify!) to more than 100 countries.

Tonight on More 4 (Freeview Channel 14) Car SOS are doing a rally car; a 1989 Peugeot 205 GTi. Paddy Hopkirk also makes an appearance. 21:00

I think it is going to be worth watching the whole series. In the trailers for the show there has been a few shots of a Citroen DS, and on this show, while they are working on the Pug, a DS is seen for a few seconds.

Just watched this on the firestick. It features the restoration of a Citroen DS, and includes an appearance in the flesh by Martin at Pleiades.

What was poignant about the GT6 show was that the owner (who did, at least, get to drive it) died last year, before this episode was aired.
