Hi and welcome

Don't take this the wrong way, but there could be many reasons and you really should get it read with Diagbox (ideally) or a half decent fault code reader to be honest - it's useless guessing and we need the fault codes.

I could rattle off 100 'possibles' with that description, hence the need for a proper fault diagnosis.

ESP / ASR can be the ESP ECU, the Handbrake, wheel sensors, speed signal, the antipollution can be the EGR, the DPF if a diesel (which you haven't mentioned), air and fuel mixture, a myriad of sensor issues, engine fuse box..... you get the picture.

Pop your VIN up along with any fault codes and we may be able to provide some light, but without these ....

No worries - but just be aware that generic code readers will not be able to read all the systems - only basic data, but presently that will at least be a start. :)

Similar but not the one - yes ideally you should get a Lexia 3 VCI - but that is a cheap one and will not work fully with the C5 (you can see they have at least honestly declared this as it is not on the list of supported vehicles).

It is too cheap also and the reason is it will not be a fully CAN compliant full chip unit, so will not be able to communicate with a lot of the ECUs. You will also need a dedicated laptop running Windows 7 minimum really, on a 32 bit version on Windows. So an investment for the future if you own Citroen, Peugeot or DS vehicles as it works with all these marques.

Expect to pay £130 ish for a decent full-chip kit. We have a discount code for members in the 'sticky' of the Diagnostics section of the main forum from a member-recommended supplier. There are others of course, but it's a bit of a gamble as to what you are buying.
