Passenger seat belt tensioner fault - electrical connector.

2009 C4GP 1.6HDI.

The wires that connect to the passenger seat belt tensioner (orange plastic connector) have come out of the connector. Now I don't know which way they came out. I have an orange and yellow wire. Does the orange wire go into the connector to the right on the connector (closest to the passenger door) I wonder..??

According to the wiring diagram the Passenger Seat Belt Pretensioner has a 2 pin Blue connector.

Yellow wire number 652 into Pin 1
Orange wire 653 into Pin 2

Make sure you disconnect the battery and wait 10 minutes for the capacitors to discharge before attempting any wiring connections with airbags (risk of deployment & serious injury)

That's great thanks, but which is pin 1 & pin 2. I cant see anything on the plastic plug/socket.

There should be a number, but very small within the socket. If you aren’t sure, check the driver’s side socket for comparison

Okay I reconnected the wires but I still have the warning light on dash. Is there a way to test the tensioner insitu by measuring resistance or volt drop across the tensioner pins? Not sure if this problem is the actual tensioner or the wiring. Thanks.

Don't apply a test meter (of any type) to the tensioner - it is an explosive device, which exerts considerable force.

Thanks for the heads up. How do you test them then? I was looking at this

and wondered what resistance readings you should get etc.

I believe you can substitute a 2?3 ohm* resistor for the tensioner, as this is the resistance the triggering circuitry expects to see. If that puts the warning light out, then the tensioner was faulty.
* 2.7R or 3.3R resistance would be nearest standard values.
This avoids putting any voltage directly on the tensioner.

This might need confirming for your vehicle.

I tried a 3R resistor. Light still on. Would I need to reset Airbag ECU via Lexia before the light goes out I wonder?
