Good on them.
We had one not far from us on the main road - the only one for 25 miles and it was cut off and removed overnight. It has never been replaced.

Re: The French are Revolting again !
I've just had a look at some stats from a few years back:
https://www.avonandsomerset.police.uk/1 ... since-2016
The new school they've build about 15 miles away has instead gone for other traffic calming measures - i.e. very high speed bumps - not the gradual wide ones, but these are literally undercarriage ripping bu**ers. Apart from schools and other high risk areas, I think the majority of these are for revenue raising purposes.

Really, never noticed that (those?) - but do ANY of the cameras (vastly outnumbered by signs) work (or aren't you that brave/stupid either)?
Apparently the French constitution bestowes the right to protest, as befits something born of le Revolution!
Anyone noticed how often Dutch cameras point at the sky, or the ground? Seems they have an almost magnetic attraction for very slowly driven Toyota Landcruisers.

Re: The French are Revolting again !
It's reckoned that each speed camera costs around 22 grand so they set up empty boxes in most villages and move the cameras around at random times.
Villages along the A48 are treated in this way and they catch a lot of speeders, the A48 being a bit of a 'death' road is I think a real justification for the set up, there's more white paint on the road, double white and hatched lines than most but it still doesn't stop the idiot commuters going at high speed in the killing zone.

I got a lot of time for the French, if they feel they're getting a Bum Deal; it seems that instead of spouting a whole load of hot air with precious little effect, they take direct action.

Re: The French are Revolting again !
Slightly off topic I know but one time we crossed from Poole to Cherbourg on the ferry it was announced that the french fishermen were revolting so we expected the harbour to be blocked. By the time we got there I had forgotten all about it, we docked, drove off into Cherbourg but found we couldn't get out as all the main roads were blocked and the town was virtually at a standstill and there was a fire going on somewhere.
Fortunately on our previous trip we had come back along the coast and being not much more than a lane we were able to leave that way - not playing the game I know but it got us to where we were going.
