Only job I ever did on one was to replace the coil - because it was loose & a rib on the rockerbox had worn through it & the oil had run out. (i.e. the coil NOT the rockerbox!)

Snap! I had one with exactly the same problem. :)

Now THAT is weird (as, indeed, was the problem - or so I thought at the time); design fault?

Sidmouth is also still home (I believe) to one of the few working H-vans in the country (food trucks aside) which belongs to the Tramway.

Still trying to place Lisburne Garage; presumably in Lisburne Square - although that seems unlikelysomehow.

p.s. that must be a very old picture of the AA box, it is now even more overegrown than in this one:-

from the A3052 website.

from the Devon Records Office on the web I dug up this

Renwicks Garages, Lisburne Garage, Babbacombe Road, Torquay.

There is a garage in Babbacombe Road which may fit the bill. Now a Bosch Car Service place with a Tesco attached.

Renwicks rings a bell but can't place them. Lisburne Square is off Babbacombe Road but in an expensive residential part. I remember that place actually fronting Babacombe Road - I went to look at Burlingo there - but it's up near Marychurch & Lisburne Square's in Wellswood.

It would be too. Took the grand kids on it a couple of years ago, I think it was our fare that paid for the new station.

There are some very nice cars in Paignton, spotted by a friend of mine who knowing my penchant for the caravelle pursued it on his bike and snapped this photo for me. The fact that it pulled in next to a gorgeous FIAT 500 also in gleaming white is just one of those "what are the chances of that happening/" moments!
