Wiring diagram request

Post by wheeler »

Looking for a dipped beam diagram for my X7. VF7**************[VIN obfuscated, can be read by forum staff]
Just noticed i have no dipped beam, DRL or sidelight at the nearside. All back lights ok.
Not had a chance to look at it yet as im out & about but would like to be armed with the diagram. Main beam still works so suspect earth is ok. Will try BSI reset first.

They're on separate circuits, left right / front rear I think, so fingers crossed a fuse. I'll pull one up for your shortly. :)

Ok, so I've put 2 diagrams up as there are multiples of these for the individual lighting system components. Hopefully these will be the ones you need. I'll pop up the earthing locations for you too.

Dipped / Main Beam
2610 is the Left Hand Headlamp, 2615 Right Hand Headlamp
F18 is the fuse for the Right Hand Dipped Beam wire (2702)

I have to ask, but do you think the nightbreaker was a fake? They reckon about 80% of these branded premium bulbs sold on the bay and Amazon are fakes. At least that rules out anything suspect with the wiring though (hopefully) [-o<

So yes blown DRL bulb too.
Yes there is every possibly they are fakes, the ebay seller I bought them from made a big think about him being an authorised seller & them not being fakes, the packaging looked genuine but i know some copies can be really good.
Before i got the diagrams i guessed that the 3 green/yellow wires were earths & checked them under load & seemed ok.
The chances are the sidelight has been out for ages as you can barely see them with dip on.

As far as OSRAM go, these are their UK approved resellers:

- ABD.co.uk
- Driven2Automotive
- Euro Car Parts
- Ignitionline
- Performance Bulbs
- Powerbulbs.com

I think I got my D1S bulbs from one of these as I didn't want to take any chances at £120 for 2!

I only have the D1S bulb for the Main & Dipped combined, along with the large side light bulb that sits next to them and looks as big as a headlamp, so I fitted a decent LED (W5W) Cree a few years back fort the sidelight and they are still going great!

I'll try contacting the seller but not holding my breath, Everything seems ok after replacing all 3 bulbs.
Was just saving the diagrams for future use & having a look at the DRL diagram. I'm curious as to the location of the DRL relay (2404),It could come in handy if I need an engine running feed for anything in the future. Do you have the 3rd page of the diagram that shows component locations?
I really wish SEDRE would work on windows 10 :?

I’m not on the HAL9000 now, but I think that 2404 is for the angular lighting, not the DRLs IIRC.

The DRLs are the middle ones in the headlamp diagrams with the little ☀️ sun icon above.

By angular lighting do you mean the lamps that illuminate when you turn corners?
On the diagram There are only 4 wire going into the front lamp unit & 3 of them are earths so it looks like there is only one live feed for the DRL's ?
they are connected together electrically at each side so they must come on together when the relay (2404) is energised?
I would have thought the angular lighting would have needed a separate relay for each side as they operate independently?
