That was a very good whatsthisthen and took a bit of finding even though we have the full car on display :-D

Didn't know it off the top of my head, but many many many googles later I discover that "car grills gran turismo" produced this a few images down the list

Its a Nissan Cima Y33

Yup, even when I was standing in front of it, I had walk round the back to read the script on the bootlid to find out what make it was, never mind anything else - oh, & it's a V8!

Interestingly, that maroon one looks like it may be Euro spec one (no Jap. size plate recess) although I understood it was a Japan home market only model (they were exported to the US, as Infiniti Q45's).

It was gone yesterday & in it's place an equally alien MPV/minibus but weather & lack of any real interest prevented further investigation. Next to the French XJ40 was a Toyota Soarer/Lexus whatever - as I remember they WERE imported as Lexi but the Toy was Japan model. (again didn't get cloise).

Finally, much bigger'n R75, think Audi A8 - on steroids!

Go-on......in the Haynes categories of whatsthisthen?'s this is a 3 spanner job. I am sure some of the older statesmen on the FCF will have actually had one!

Do you know your engine bays......for sale at an auction in the new year and a very nice example of the breed

So...whatsthisthen?

Hmm... Austin, 6cyl, PAS, servo brakes, dynamo...
That air filter cross-tube looks most odd.

..and a bit of horn rim, a bit of steering wheel, a flimsy looking indicator stalk, the ignition with the keys in, few switches, the speeedo and a couple of warning lamps which aren't ABS/Airbag/Engine Management/Emissions.

My guess is maybe an Austin Westminster, possibly A110, though possibly a Wolseley 6/110 or VDP Princess.
Sadly no longer a C5 owner :(

I had several of those one after the other in the late sixties early seventies, the first was black and red, then a white one then one as in your photo (a funny story about that one) followed by two Wolseley 6/110s then an Austin 3 Litre.
The black and red was written off by a guy driving a 35cwt Renault van in a narrow lane, I just had to sit there stationary while he took out my front wing and suspension, he buzzed off before the cops could get there and disappeared, never reported it to his company, the road was blocked for four hours while they untangled them
The last Wolseley I mentioned in an earlier post also written off.

Ps. None of them were as clean under the bonnet as this one. :)
Man is, by nature, a lazy beast, he does not need twice encouraging to do nothing.
