Yep. nothing more sinister than that Mike - should be on the underside somewhere or on the inner bottom door lip - I can't remember exactly but they all should have them in a similar position.

The water in the door theory makes sense because lately my window switch has started playing up again - too soon after me thoroughly stripping and cleaning it. I was thinking it might have something to do with my weakening battery as it would not work properly until I'd driven a fair bit.

By the way, are the door drain holes toward the rear (end) of the door by any chance? I've only recently started parking nose-in (arse end up in the air) due to some oik chipping the grill.

I can't check the X7 location ones Mike as it's in the garage having the flipping pivot support lower bush done and won't be back until Monday, but I can check the C3 ones in a second....

Right on the C3 there are 2 - very clear and easy to see on the inner side of the bottom door lip, where the skin ins welded. One at each end.

So I'd assume at least 2 on the C5 too.

Called on a neighbour last night who's in the drain business and he says he'll come over with his expensive rods and jetta if need be. Will let you know what we find.

Had a quick (well, slow creep actually) under the drivers door and saw a cutout at the front (hinge end) that was perfectly clear. Tried prising the rubber seal back at the other end but it seems pressed into place and didn't want to dislodge it. No other holes seen anywhere.
Also checked the coolant level and it was at the minimum mark though don't these cars have a low level sensor anyway?

So once again, I'm lost for ideas what could be causing the excess condensation. It's always the front screen that suffers in the cold mornings, (though on damp rainy days with the heating on, all the glass windows can be affected to some degree). I originally thought it might be something to do with the residual heat of the engine and dashboard (heater vents and radio gets really hot in my use).

As previously mentioned, I've now got four damp traps in the front though they collected nothing last night and of course, the conditions were too dry this morning so not got a good test anyway. I've also closed the top vents as I normally have them open though I do hear the heater flaps moving to a default position when the engine's switched off, whatever that might be?

Have you checked/replaced the cabin/pollen filter?

Not the easiest job on yours unfortunately.

I did when I first got the car, Steve, though admittedly that was a few years ago now. I did read a dirty filter can be a cause of condensation but can't figure out how/why. Nonetheless, it is on the todo list, thanks for the reminder.

Mike the filter being blocked will induce condensation as the filter itself holds moisture from the air as it passes through it.
As for the door drains i had a similar issue on the C4 drivers rear door sloshing with water .
From my muddled memory if you open the doors up the rubber seal on the underside needs to be peeled back about 3 inches to reveal the drain hole.
The C4 suffered from misting on all windows until i sorted this, i have since trimmed the rubber back to allow any water to escape as the window rubber seal that is at fault is a tad expensive :)

Mike just checked back on your posts, useless at quotes but ..

The hole is situated under the rubber seal, it is just a normal rubber seal, and it covers the seam of the 2 parts of the door, pull it back and you can always push it back into place.

I must of missed that post too - would of suggested the same as Colin - but of course no rubber seals on the bottom doors of the peasant's C3 :-D

I'll order a new cabin filter pronto. Can't get a price off service citroen, the checkout feature isn't available at the moment.
As long there's definitely another door drain hole to find, I'll be brave next time and peel the seal back. It's so thin, I couldn't imagine any hole being covered by it.

GSF online showed that a cabin filter for my 2004 C5 was around £35.
