Rd45 Peugeot 407

Post by vortexco »

My 2007 Peugeot 407 has the factory fitted RD4 stereo.

I've tried searching the Internet and looking at various websites, but I'm only finding information for citroen cars.

Is it possible to fit a RD45 to my car so I can have Bluetooth audio streaming? Mine is the grey stereo.

Thank you.

The problem with the 407 is that the RD4 present in that car has a different front to the standard DIN sized radios used in Citroen cars. So whilst the RD45 would work electrically in a 407, it wouldn't fit the hole in the dashboard.

Thanks for the reply.

If I bought a facia adaptor, like I was going to fit a aftermarket stereo would it work?

I have the colour display screen with dual climate control?

Thank you.

I have recently been investigating an RD45 upgrade for my 308, and it looks like any car with an RD4 can be upgraded to RD45, but some cars (probably pre-2010) need to have the LCD display upgraded to allow the configuration of Bluetooth.

If you can't find an RD45 with the correct front panel for your car, the front panel vrom your RD4 can (I am told) be swapped on to an RD45.

Thanks for replying,

Mine 407 is a sport sw 2007, with the colour screen so I'm guessing with vin code and dmfacia adaptor it's a straight swap.

I think that a 2007 car is likely to require a replacement screen with a newer firmware version to support bluetooth. I think that the bluetooth-compatible display version was only introduced when the RD45 became available as an option, which was around 2010 or 2011.

I don't think that a facia adapter will be of any use in fitting an RD45, as the RD45 does not generally have a standard DIN shaped facia. You need to either buy an RD45 with a 407 front panel fitted, or swap the front panel from your current RD4.

I think this is getting a little too complicated for me.

I think I'm going to get a Bluetooth and dab rds transmitter. Not cheep but it'll give me Bluetooth and dab without losing any peugeot features by fitting an aftermarket stereo.

Thanks
