Travelling in steady stream of traffic on the A417 today all well spaced and right on 70mph, in the mirror I see a little white dot coming up very fast, damn near 100 mph by my reckoning, a Citroen C1.

I took my daughter to look at one or two thinking she might like one to replace her ageing 306. But in spite of the high VED she pays, she wants to keep the XUD.

Yep, both of mine would hit an indicated ton. They'd cruise happily at 90!

I keep saying there are such things, but nobody seems to believe me.
I much prefer the XUD, despite electrics being my field. There's something appealing about the mechanical fuel system and, for me, the power delivery is much nicer with the old fashioned throttle cable connecting the pedal to the pump!
And, of course, if it does fail to proceed, it can be fixed with a hammer and screwdriver at the side of the road.

It could also be that she prefers it as the C1 feels very insubstantial compared to a 306...

C1 has a higher safety rating though..

I had a C1 for a while before giving it to Robyn... I loved it and she loves it too... They are great little cars and surprisingly quick

I never felt it to be insubstantial at all... In fact, just the opposite...
