Theres supposed to be a recently retired peugeot technician who was a dealership head diagnostic man calling me to discuss pigpug. He was supposed to call me at the weekend which is now finished. I need it diagnosed, or to go buy another vehicle as I am now down to no working, road legal cars. Gabby is a bit away from mot stage, although she does start and run.

So what happened to the spanish lass? Its starting, running perfectly and returning over 50mpg and is reliable and comfortable. But on Saturday evening a bloody great deer decided to commit suicide using my car as the weapon of death. This has resulted in the leon requiring a bonnet, headlight, front bumper, left front wing, along with minor repairs to both left doors and sill, and whatever I cant see as in wheelarch liner and inner wing. I fully expect that to get written off when the insurance assessor sees it. Its seriously annoying as that car was genuinely unmarked, never had paintwork, only 2 or 3 chips I could see and very smooth paint thar had very little swirls or scratches that you normally do see on a 7 year old car. Im so annoyed as I had decided it was going to be a keeper.

Davie, sorry to hear of what happened with the deer... Main thing is, you're OK...

Deer have been known to kill... You were lucky.

Bad news, Davie (even worse for the deer!) glad you are ok.

It seems that you deciding a car is a "keeper" is the kiss of death for it!

As regards the Pug technician, why is it always so hard to get any one (in the trade) to do what they say they will?

The saga of the 407 is totally pi55ing me off now. Even more so when seeing that I could get a similar running and moted car for as little as 700 quid. Anyone want to get a trailer and come and get it? Make me an offer, I may say yes.

I am going to go to the auction tonight to see if I can get something cheap, as in a couple hundred cheap, with a few months mot to keep me going until the insurance and replacement or reapired leon is sorted out. I have decided if it is written off, highly likely then I will buy it back. A wing, bumper and headlight will fix it enough. The bonnet, doors and sill are minor damage and wont affect it and it will still be a good car, just not immaculate any longer. If gabby hadnt been in a state of disrepair needing paint and other stuff she would have been chucked in a mot and been used but she needs too much for a quick fix. So who knows what kind of thing I will be driving tomorrow? There are always a few nearly end of life crap at a couple hundred or less with a couple months test there, vectra, mondeo, kind of things, unwanted and cheap. I am stuffed without a car, cant even get as far as the shops. Not happy just now

Sorry to say I have continued on the VAG diesel theme, a vw caddy van to knock my fillings out with for a while. At least it will knock myfillings out slowly being a 1.9sdi non turbo. It has a new MOT though and will be an easy sell on in a few months time. Nuff said.

I don't suppose there's any potential to get together a few of the experts from on here for a weekend up in Scotland to see if we can get BigPug going?

Sure that between those of us with access to all the technology and braincells that it would be eminently doable.

I have the two main codes generated by lexia Zel, but canr find out what to change to fix them. If I hadnt had the bad luck with the leon then it would got something done, but ive gone spent the money earmarked for it on buying the caddy. I saw a 57 plate 407 2.2 petrol for sale with a nice low mileage, in black and a cloth interior and 17" wheels for £550 and was nearly buying that and swapping over my cream leather and 18" wheels onto it. Then my buggered one could have gone for scrap money. Its likelt just to be a sensor of some description thats gone on mine, or even the ecu but even ecus are cheap enough on the bay of e. I just cant afford to chuck money at random sensors hoping its a fix. To be honest the 407 is one of the reasons of my defection to VAG, getting fed up of electrical issues on it, and I wanted a small van but couldnt be doing with the thought of another berlingo back axle. If my leon gets fixed by the insurance, which I dont know yet as there is no date yet for them picking it up yet thats fine, if it gets written off I expect I will buy another as I really liked it, and it was not as hard riding or uncomfortable as you would expect a vag to be

I once sold a 2CV for a Marathon bar and a bottle of chocolate milk. Does that sound a better deal?

N.B. The 2CV did start and run though..

I've never been to Scotland so thought 'why not' but a quick Google my place to Macduff says 12 hours and 5 minutes so I think I'll opt out of that one. :)

How much do you want for it Davie, and how much does it weigh?.. perhaps I can hire a trailer and tow it with the Xsara Picasso....
