A very jaundiced viewpoint, which a lot of us wouldn't support.

Agree that new vehicle production contributes to environmental damage, but, by that token, we'd all still be running ancient vehicles, tweaked and re-engineered.

Also take into account that electricity production (especially in Europe - and here in Spain, for that matter) is getting greener as each year passes, as renewables kick in. The UK is really well placed to capitalise on this, and it's happening already.

The London Underground moved on from steam trains for a good reason. London streets are now about to do the same thing. Cities around the world are facing the same problems; from here I can see the yellow-grey fug that hangs over Malaga, whenever the wind doesn't blow. Our old and our children deserve better.

Your reference to plastics reminded me of this piece. Van

Marks and Sparks had gratis wooden knives forks and spoons instead of the previous black plastic ones at Gala the other day.

Back to the relative mundanity of Electric Vehicle Spotting.

New leaf, old leaves, and a Black TESLA model X at a forecourt electric charge point taking considerably longer to refuel than it took my Corsa. :)

Have to say Teslas are becoming not that unusual a spot.

Meanwhile on the Dyson front, another snippet I heard on the Radio, Singapore have just signed a free trade deal with the EU.....

Asia Times-Singapore and the EU fly the flag of free trade

Well, following our son's recent comments about Waterloo's bus garage having gone all-electric, I did a bit of trawling, and found what I think are some interesting and heartening articles here.

It is really good to see all the involved parties working together to make this transformation work, and the comment that although BYD is supplying chassis, traction, batteries and charging technology, the Chinese bodies were felt not to be durable enough for UK climate, and hence the (very welcome) involvement of Alexander-Dennis, in Falkirk, to put the bodies on. Lots of lovely detail in these two web articles.

Note the numbering of the bus positions. This is in fact the order in which the sardines are packed into the garage!

Just shows what can be done when experts and the best technology available come together. My Dad was involved during and after WW2 in setting up the National Grid (he was a high-voltage transformer designer), at a time when political will and dire necessity provided the right circumstances to 'get the job done'. Although he died in 1998, he would have been over the moon about this bit of electric transport for London.

Those buses are seriously packed in. Just so long as none break down, all will be well!

A lot of Leaf owners around here are on their second Leafs, and we are 30+ miles away from the nearest civilisation! Another case in point today with a local farmer upgrading from the "odd-shaped" early Leaf to the new more "normal" looking one.

Agreed, Peter. Would probably take a bit of doing with all those heavy batteries under the floor.
Did, wonder, though, if you rounded up several of them into a car park, would that be a loose leaf folder?

Bit of vital spotting information here should you come across some odd looking rear lights at night...........calls itself a hybrid of course.

Bit of a Tesla day yesterday - I saw 3 'S's - including one I thought was sporting DE11 BOY, but DVLA says that is on a Range Rover...

If ever there was a case of form over function then those lights have it in spades! OOT and then some

I think car stylists are really struggling these days to come up with something new, good looking and innovative. As a result we get flights of fantasy like this

Yes I was behind a Prius Taxi at traffic lights yesterday. It was so interesting/awful that I started a thread to mop up the collective FCF wisdom on the subject which I see you have found already :-D
