Seeping fuel pump xantia td

Post by Timmo »

Hey guys,
After many years of blissful Veg'ing the fuel pump has started to seep a little, i suspected it for a while as you can smell it in the cabin when stationary,
Hopefully pictures attached to show where its leaking

The 5mm hex bolt appears the dampest, although as suspected tight,
I seem to remember from various posts on the subject the rebuild kits are fairly pricey and it's a very time consuming job??
Any advice? 178k very tatty bodywork, leaky bits on the engine (has always leaked Down the back of the lump), mot till late Jan, i know its not worth a great deal if any over scrap value, just like to know if its worth repairing?
Ta muchly in advance for your time
Timmo

Service kits are cheap but the work is quite an undertaking as blogged here viewtopic.php?f=14&t=28590&hilit=bosch+seal

ive been through your blog on it before as mine is still armoured, decided it wasnt worth the grief of dearmouring at the time, pump rebuild is a bit too involving i think for me, i dont have the clean space to be able to do it properly, hmmmmmn.

See if can find another pump maybe a recon one or with the right seals in it etc or see if someone can do then change over i didn't find it that hard when did mine.
Just make sure you lock woodruff key in a box once remove it!
Angle grinder took car of the armour and a few tools to remove pins.
Need some Cresent spanners ideally slim ones i also made a short flat ring spanner to do bottom nut out of a broken ratchet spanner welded it up the ground it flat &thin so got onto nut over stud.

Thank you, I think i have come to the conclusion I'll run it to mot end of Jan if it lasts, doesn't get used all that much, most likely won't put a new test on it as the bodywork going, if it survives issue free till them may steam the engine of its oil leaks duck tape over the gaping holes and see what happens!
