Couple of days ago I noticed when doing a regular checkup that the front fogs on my Activa were out. Didn't think too much of it, I've usually found H3s to have a relatively short life so figured it was just a dead pair of lamps...even if them both dying at the same time seemed a little odd. Given I'm putting her in for an MOT next week, time to get it sorted.
New set of lamps were picked up, and fitted...oh. Still no light. Light on the dash is still working, but no power at the lights. Power is from fuse 6, 30A in the engine bay fuse box. Also powers the headlamp washer timer, unsurprisingly it's fine.
I'm guessing there's a relay or something involved somewhere...okay, let's rephrase that. I'm *hoping* that there's a relay involved that's a likely candidate, rather than a wiring fault buried behind the front bumper. Or more likely given what an know, behind the fan assembly, intercooler, air con condenser *then* also the radiator...
Never had an S1 nose apart before, but assuming the layout is pretty similar to an S2.
I'm hoping this fault doesn't wind up with me dismantling the entire front of the car.

Front fogs not testable on a car that age.... That's not to say you shouldn't fix them, but takes the pressure off!

Re: Xantia S1 Front Foglights Dead
Have they been fiddling with the regs on that side of things again?
I thought this was one of those things which wasn't mandatory in terms of being fitted, but if fitted had to be working.
Not being testable does at least take a bit of the pressure off at least, though obviously my intention will still be to sort the problem.

Re: Xantia S1 Front Foglights Dead
Tried hard to find some pics of when i had the bumper off of MKI Xantias but for the life of me i cannot find them
From hazy memory there are 2 bolts accessed from the inner wheel arches 1 each side that i found the hardest to remove. Think you need headlights/indicators out front grille and a few small trim panels out. Under tray also needs to come out but i think it is mainly the inner wheel arch bolts that hold the front end on.
IIRC the harness for the Fog Lamps are clipped under the bumper and connects to the main loom somewhere near the Horn on the n/s.
I seem to recall that you can change the fog lamps with the front end in situ so i guess you can test power to the connectors as a first point of call.
Guess i could be wrong memory is getting a little foggy these days
