Viewing C5 at last minute

Seller of the C5 I went to see yesterday sent me a text just after 6pm today:

What was the point? No intention to buy. Online award for timewasting.

Tried calling seller but he never answered, puzzled as I made the journey 90 miles round trip to view and buy if all looked good but it was over my budget, confused..

Sounds like you got outbid on the auction he never told you about he was running Let us know which seller if it comes back up for sale

Presumably he would have took a higher offer and then cancelled the auction as "no longer available" or "error in listing"

I tried calling him back but no answer i might ring off my brothers number and see what happens, but your right Michel I felt like texting him back with a few choice words but as he is in his early 80's (and the fact that i could see my dad shaking his head) i decided not to, but damn right i want to find out why Dave thinks I went all the way to Wirral to waste his time, can i post a pic of the old chap on here as I took a video of the chap when I realised something was a bit odd when he cant asking me to make a bid and leering over my shoulder to see what i was entering on my phone , he even asked me to go upstairs and use his computer to place my bid, I told him I could do it on my phone like I said this chap was clued up, everything I wanted to have a nosey at he kept moving onto something else, never showed me the history just flashed the maintenance book and satnav discs and stashed them back in the tray under passenger seat. I think he was a genuine seller but was possibly shilling (ebay) at the same time, he was apologetic that i didn't win, i even told him how much i bid up to and that i could not afford to go over, we shook hands he grabbed my forearm at the same time which I thought was a sign he was gutted I didn't win, but then to send me a text like that wow.

I think thats what was going on Skull, but advert still showing as ended, waiting for it to show up again, he did say he was a fuel attendant at a petrol station at the age of 12 and then worked as a mechanics assistant he had all the ebay bought stickers stuck within engine bay, cambelt filters and so on when they were changed and at what mileage, he mentioned he sold his caravan 4 yrs ago either that pr he hid it out of sight.

power seemed to be a bit slow to come through not like the 110 xantia which felt quicker somehow and looks huge compare to the xantia.

He had spent just shy of 700 on rear and front calipers, discs and pads and link rod, dent near filler cap, paint was dull but no sign of rust, scratches front passenger wing, he had the door and bumper protectors glued on, rear sensors were dicky never heard the front, forgot to check eml light but he originally said it was to do with the brakes. Underneath was clean too clean in some areas, no undertray, xenon lights did not swivel with engine started, seller said it may work when driving, is that a mot failure now also headlight washer jets popped out but wouldnt go back in until pushed in by hand drivers side, rust like specks on carpet between driver door and driver seat bottom shroud , driver recline button was damaged and had cone away from its position. I would have bought it for 850 when it was on gumtree, we had already arranged around three weeks ago that he would drive down and let my mechanic look it over and I offered to pay fuel costs and his time, seller was happy to come down and have the C5 looked over, 2 days later I rang to arrange and he was not having any of it, he wouldnt be coming down so we left it at that, my xantia sold quicker than i thought so i checked my phone found daves number rang and arranged for the viewing on Tuesday, on the call he remebered my name and was nice as pie but never told me he had the car advertised on Ebay. Crafty man

Your right Pete I should have text back straight away as I was fuming, but once I got home and filled my tank up I felt sorry for the fella, its lucky he didn't answer as I might have gone berserk with my driving.

Sellers get frustrated too fellas, he's probably had a bellyful of potential buyers who either never turn up to appointments or turn up and kick tyres for an hour then walk away.
