Good to hear you're managing with your health Davie.

I tried to talk a friend of mine into your 407 Coupe but he wasn't having it. Annoying really as he asked me if I knew anyone selling one that needed work.

I'm downsizing the fleet at the moment as well, life's getting in the way with all of these cars everywhere.

David.

I would still have managed down for something Jim, but it wouldnt have been in a car of mine. It would have been the orange bird to Luton and hire a car hoping to get a cactus or some such ilk! It would probably be cheaper than driving anyway given what easy jets prices are. Get the right booking at the right time and you get a fare for about 20 odd quid!

A sale is now agreed on the 205. I know im likely to regret it, but I am not in a position to give her the care and attention she needs. I have got the full asking price, which is quite a bit more than I paid for her. It will be sad when she goes on Sunday, but hey ho, its part of the plan.

That plan is to keep the seat for daily duties, it wont actually do many miles now I'm supplied with a van for delivering food. It is also good for being the family loan car, as daughter 1 has a seat leon, and daughter 2 has a vw golf. The leon will seem familiar to each of them. Shaun does not qualify for a family courtesy car due to his mistreatment of previous cars, and myself. Car number 2 in this plan for me is hopefully get the 407 sorted and on the road again. It is virtually worthless as it stands, fixed and tested I would hope its about 2 grands worth. It has all the toys I want in a car and I still love the looks of the thing.
The xantia can stay for now also, as it too is quite worthless for selling. It will get the paint done, then flatted and buffed to see how it comes out. Then she will get a new gearbox mount and an overhaul of the fuel system consisting of new injector seals and new leak off pipes and hopefully back on the road in the spring. It can go into hibernation in the lock up that the 205 is vacating.
I, surprisingly given my dislike of vw and german cars, have fell for the Seat Leon. Its a lovely car to drive, and I like its styling. I find it really comfortable, but the furthest travelled in one go so far was the 70odd miles home from Inverness the day I bought it But thats really the furthest I want to drive in one go nowadays.

I seem to have somehow got the skoda fabia which I bought at auction for sweetie money, spent a couple hubdred getting a new test then sold, back into my possession, again for sweetie money. This is me trying to cut down car numbers!

So at the moment I have Gabby the xantia td. It is now deposited into the lockup where it is staying until springtime. She needs the paintwork finished, injector seals done, probably leak off pipes done, a new gearbox mount fitted ant that will hopefully get her running again without the need for a fuel pump which I thought it needed.

The Seat Leon is a great car, I really like it and it is just working as it should and returning near 60mpg so probably a keeper for the daily.

The Skoda Fabia is seriously cosmetically challenged but is a nice drive. It has a mot till july, it has the eml on but drives perfectly, the nearside driveshaft is just starting to click on full lock and it needed two tyres, which got changed today. I had two tyres on gabbys steel wheels which have near full tread so they found their way onto the skoda today for some beer tokens to an employee of a local tyre place while his boss wasnt looking!I think I shall keep it jyst now, it can get used instead of the Leon on the snow and ice which will arrive here sooner or later. It has working heated seats which will be great for me, and if is gets bumled in the snow I wont care. I have already been told that one of Shauns chums will have it in july and probably give me 200 for it, for a park racer, as long as it drives, there is no need for antyhing else, including brakes!

That leaves the 407. It is going to be put somewhere to see if and what it needs to get fixed. Then it will get registered disabled again so I dont have to pat the £540 annual road tax and it will become my toy. So long term its the Leon for a daily, big pug for a toy and gabby for a part time summer toy. And me being me, of course all the above is subject to change just because!

And another car leaving my care shortly. The fabia has turned me a 50 quid profit for the second time😁 Thats despite it needing a driveshaft. The boot is split, all the grease gone and its going clickity click. However its a back street garage which has bought it to use as a coutresy car. Its the garage that I now use for jobs I cant do, they put the steering rack into it 5 months ago for mot. So at the moment only one running road legal car. Hoping that big pug will be running soon.

Still really curious to see what you've been up to with Gabby.

Bit of a shame the tax is so dear for it and I've no space as I'd probably have made you an offer on Bigpug by not otherwise. Never actually been in a 407 mind you, coupe or otherwise...

I can show you that the roof and the bonnet is black

And both rear door shuts have been patched and smoothed off with filler and then undersealed. Welding done by someone else, filler and pai t by me

The rest of it has had one coat of paint, but needs another coat, which wont happen now untill spring. What colour? Wait and see. It could be red, it could be yellow, it could be orange or it could be white. And if red, not dante red, more like ferrari red 😁 It will be unique!

Im going to tint the rear side and rear windows too once the paint is on and the mot passed. Its a bit of fun really as the car is virtually worthless to sell. Its finish will be far from perfect but im not worried. She wont have rust or major dents and she will be different from a distance. She wouldnt have been worth the £1500 or so a professional resoray would have cost, so using her as a test bed to see how this hand painting then really fine sanding and then a buff will come out

Looking promising so far!

I'm torn between a proper glowing Ferarri red or that slightly orangeish yellow that you used to see the Saxo West Coast in.

...Though that's a job I'll probably end up entrusting to a professional given my usual success with cosmetic work!
