307 hdi 110 2005, various problems

Post by moizeau »

Got a chap in the village who wants to French his car. Done the headlights. It then failed the CT on:
1 Various suspension problems...will go and see the tester for a more accurate account, but seems like bushes.
2 Boot won't shut, you can lock it with a screwdriver across the gate with the tailgate open, and can lock the car on the central locking if you put pressure on the tailgate, but when you unlock the car the boot catch releases? I'm thinking that the 'pressure pad' is permanently triggered?
Unrelated to the CT I plugged the Diag in because he says it loses power on a particular bit of road. It has no dialogue with any ECU apart from the power steering, which it recognises, and the injection, which it doesn't recognise, but does show faults. Every other ECU including the BSI has no dialogue?
When I ask it for the codes from the injector ECU it asks me 'which one has it got? I will check this on SB later.
I think he bought a dog because the rad leaks and the windscreen is de-laminating, which will probably write the car off financially, but we'll see.
Any ideas on the above, notably the tailgate and the Diag? I have tried Diagbox and PP.
Cheers
Pete

What model and year is the car and what version of Diagbox are you using pete?

I’m out with sketchy Wi-fi at present but will be back at the ranch in an hour or so

Cheers Marc, vin VF3**************[VIN obfuscated, can be read by forum staff] ,307 3/5 dr 110 sport HDI 2005. Diag is 7.52 I think, 'cause I had to do an update on it when I got the 407 as opposed to the 406.
It also needs the fog light changing sides, it has only one, just wondered if the loom is the same between RH and LH drives, if so he can get 2 rear lights, or it may be possible to bolt an exterior fog to the bumper, like in the days.

Ok, so as far as the loom goes - they are all completely different. I compared the main harness part no for the original Right Hand Drive (656860) for this gearbox and engine, but the same part was not listed for the equivalent Left Hand Drive. However, this may be because of the gearbox / ABS or other modules and not necessarily affect the wiring loom for the lights - so no way to tell.

As for the diagnostics - you will need to downgrade to an earlier firmware that may be more compatible with the 307 which in this case is a 2005 model. You will need the PSA interface checker software to do this and the firmware file. If you need help with these send me a PM.

As for tailgate - sometimes the contact unit moves over time and gets out of alignment - try adjusting it slightly or checking for play - a slight adjustment may solve the issue.

Cheers Marc, tailgate is sorted, the micro switch in the handle was a permanently closed contact. On the wiring, does everything go to the LH rear light, then on to the RH, is so the wire at least is on the correct side for a modification. Regarding the interface, that sounds like I need to downgrade the firmware in the interface, not just the software on the laptop, sod that, but thanks for the info. It sees a BSI but just gives a choice of about 10 to choose from, according to SB it just says ' Bosch'. When I connected the diag and chose 307 it did give a choice of 'car' or 'van', both pictures looked like cars? I chose 'car'? I didn't think to try 'van', maybe it doesn't mean 'van' in the sense of 'commercial vehicle'. Thanks again

Do you mean CAN or VAN - those are the electrical multiplexed network protocols used and there were 2 types used on the 307 (CAN-CAN or CAN-VAN). This will affect the protocols used by the diagnostic to interrogate the vehicle, so the one you need if offered is CAN-VAN.

See how you get on - the RPO is 10298 in case you need it.

If you have success reading the ECUs now, then great, otherwise you can downgrade the firmware quite easily without changing the software version installed - we just use a utility to apply a firmware file. The same is done to put the later firmware back for the 7.57 version you have finished. See how you get on first.

I'll check the wiring diagrams next.

That'll be it then Marc, I chose 'can', crap eyes, poor light, and not 'van', thinking it was car or van, (Is there an imojo for a muppet?). I'll go and see him later or tomorrow and let you know. Cheers
