I must be getting old(er). When I saw 68 I immediately thought 'G' reg!
As I get older I think a lot about the hereafter - I go into a room and then wonder what I'm here after.

Inside every old person is a young person wondering what the hell happened.

Spotted a solitary 68 reg today......still in captivity though on the dealer's forecourt, not a genuine in the wild spot.

It was one of these, which one I have no idea

Well getting close to the end of September now. If the evidence of this thread is accurate, then very shortly the SMMT will be reporting the worst ever new reg sales in the UK since records began :!: :-D

added to my Mitsubishi, today I contribute this....A Hyundai i800.

and a bit of trivia to find out if you don't know.....What was the first car built by Hyundai in 1967?

just me playing?

Skoda Fabia in Black today.

So what can we read into the spots sofar...

The UK car industry hasnt made a single appearance on the thread, South Korea has a free trade deal with the EU so nothing hampering the free-flow in of the Hyundai, black is the new black.

Yes we are working on a very very small sample so the conclusions may not be that accurate.

you weren't the only one scratching your head Chris. I'd got to Neil's first post before I twigged.

Cor, must be a decade or two since I last kept an eye out for 'new registrations'. Missus & I like to 'Stobart Spot' on long trips though, she usually wins

I've seen only a handful - one of them a Stobart! There's a sort of metallic brown 3008 round the corner from the office .

None but I rarely remember to look.

Only reg I noticed today was a French one on an erratically driven Luton van.

Very nearly October and in the chilly afternoon sunshine at the oldest railway in the entire world here is a nice little Volkswagen Up!. Almost 2-tone with its red door mirrors. Had nice wheels too with the red version of the VW logo in the Centre.

The "About" info on MG site is keen to push this sort of thing
British design and engineering

...MG’s site in Birmingham is home to the European Engineering Technical Centre and Design Studio, as well as a manufacturing facility and the Headquarters of MG Motor UK.
It is at the Headquarters that the UK Sales and Marketing team have re-launched the MG brand here in its home market.

..The new range of MG models, that have been designed and engineered at our site in Longbridge, Birmingham, include the MG3, MG GS and MG ZS.

Of course SAIC Motor one of the Chinese "Big Four" are the owners of the brand and no doubt the vehicles get churned out of the factories in China and have a nice long sea voyage before hitting the showrooms in the UK.

Geely have a similar R&D presence in the UK, as do Changan, as I found out today via a bit of whatsthisthen? googling.

SMMT figures out this morning: https://www.smmt.co.uk/2018/10/uk-new-c ... sues-bite/

20% down on last year. Diesels continue to be heavily down; AFVs up slightly, but still a small % of overall and this includes BEV as well as plug in hybrids (and hydrogen presumably if any were registered!)
