There are options - but these do them for £63.26 - cut to the key code (but you must have your hey code, or they charge you to cut from the VIN and extra £30 to get this from the dealer). But you may not need this if you are transferring the key from your existing fob, in which case it is £57.28:
http://www.car-keys-online.com/product/ ... 49097.html

The official ones from Citroen for your car are £136.90 inc VAT UNCUT (Part number 6490 97).

The thing is that with the official ones there is a 'combination specified on order' so that may mean functionality of the key specified, so I can't say for sure - you will have to check with the dealer. So you have a few choices it seems. Quality is likely to be variable too - so look around.

Geez, that's much more expensive than 10USD key from Aliexpress.
I'll first try the cheap solution, hope it'll work.

Thanks for your help!

Which one from Aliexpress do you mean? A link may be helpful.

I really wouldn't bother with 10 USD! It will be cheap crap ad probably won't last 2 minutes if indeed it works at all - but hey, prove me wrong! :-D

:) It has been a while since I posted on the forum as my C5 is now running fine. So I would just like to say thank to those who gave their time freely and offered the advice that fixed my car. :)

Before I try to add a key, is there a way to verify the BSI security code for my car via Lexia that I can back out of before doing anything?

The M59 Berlingo that I bought in August has only 1 key and there's no credit card with the security code, but there are a couple of printed white plastic tags with what looks like the code for the door key plus what looks very much like the long number that would be printed on the back of the security card. The code behind the scratch pad on the security card was the last 4 digits of that long number on my previous Berlingo so I'm guessing it's the same on the new one.

From what I've seen online, Lexia will ask for the code twice when adding keys, but does it reject the first entry if it's wrong? If I do put the correct code in twice, can I back out before I have to re-add the existing key?

Thanks

The code will either be accepted or it won't prior to coding and will ask for it twice - the second as a confirmation. If it is not accepted, then the procedure will be aborted. If it is correct then it will proceed with the rest of the routine and ask you how many keys there are in total to be programmed etc. You can back out of the procedure if you don't want to proceed.

If you are not sure of the code, Citroen will provide it for you on proof of ownership and a nominal fee of about £15

If I enter the wrong code on the first attempt, will it say so?
If I enter the correct code twice, how do I back out?

Thanks

Yes, it will not agree with the code it has stored, so will reject the code.
Usually to back out it is one of the F keys on Lexia - F9 goes to the previous screen and F7 goes to the main menu IIRC.

Problem is that in the YouTube video, the F7/F9 back out keys are not shown at the side of the screen when you get past the code entry.

It's always possible that it's some error in programming & the backout keys do work, but it would be nice if anyone that's done this can say for certain.

I can't think that you would need to back out of the procedure at this point though? You can't proceed anyway if the confidential code is incorrect, so there's no issue there. I wouldn't start down the procedure unless you have the keys and the code and are ready to proceed with it.

Don't forget afterwards, you will need to resynchronise the HF remote control locking - which I think should be towards the end of the key programming procedure.

I'd simply like to know if I have the correct code before I order another key. It's still not clear if an incorrect code is rejected on the first or second (confirmation) entry. If I put the correct code in to check & can't back out, I'll have to re-register my only key & as you say also re-register the remote.

Has anyone has put the wrong code in by accident (or on purpose) & can confirm what happens ?

Why don't you try it and put in an obviously wrong code of the same type of format and length? It is not going to do anything with that as it won't match up with the code stored in the BSI (unless you are Doris Stokes) and that way you will know if it is rejected on the first or second entry. :-D

Because I'm unsure of the consequences. I can speculate what the likely outcomes are as well as anyone but I thought I'd see if anyone has first hand experience.

When adding a blank BSI, you get just 3 chances to add that same code. I doubt that it's as serious when adding keys but I'd rather remove the doubt.
