Cutac wrote: 24 Aug 2018, 11:53 As you said, I've paired transponders which is a one time deal. But as for re-sync, what methods should I try? I did what Diagbox told me, ignition on, hold button for 5 seconds, ignition off; did what manual said, and did something I've found online, ignition on, hold for 30 seconds, ignition off. And neither worked.
This is the only re-synch procedure needed - but I still say you have the wrong fob - it won't work.

Resynchronisation of the remote control:
  • Switch off the ignition and take out the key
  • Reinsert the key to the ignition+ position
  • Press straight away on the closed padlock for a few seconds
  • Switch off the ignition
  • Remove the ignition key
  • The remote control is again fully operational

How can it not be compatible with my car? I've had a 3 button key that came with the car, it's been lost for a while now, that's why I ordered a new one.

I'll try to sync it again, if it doesn't work, I give up :(

All I'm saying is that Citroen Service does NOT show the 3 button fob for your VIN. Have you bought the vehicle brand new? What MIGHT of happened is that the previous owner might have liked the look of the DS4 version of the Fob and changed it to a 3 button fob, by transplanting the electronics from the 2 button one inside it! That is common for people to do if they fit.

According to the VIN it came with one HF fob and one single key, but only the 2 button version....

Does the centre button of your working fob actually do anything?

I've bought it brand new and middle button was used to open the boot.
When I ordered the car I did say that I'd hoped it would have a 3 button key, so I don't know if dealership did something regarding that.
I've had 3 button, 2 button and no button key. 3 button one is lost, couldn't find it for some time so I've ordered a new one, one that this topic is about.

^ That was my next question Paul.

The manual shows 2 types of fob (as does Citroen Service), but he has the 2 button one specified as supplied at the factory. As we know the manual covers both models.

So if you want another fob - get a proper one from the dealer or one with that part number I quoted previously.

The thing is, as I understand it, is that Cutac has had both a two-button and a three button remote in the past and that both worked fully. The original three button remote got lost and he wants another. Surely that means that a three-button remote must exist somewhere that will work once coded and paired in?

Or have I missed something (again)?

Yeah, you've gave your best but no result

Paul, that's right. This China-made key is probably missing something needed to work. But I'll check what does the Diagbox say, maybe there's some option which is disabled or not set as it should be.

Ok Cutac - you didn't answer the question Paul asked: - did your middle button on the 3 button fob you said you had with the car actually do anything? If not, as I said, it was probably replaced with a 3 button one (possible a proper one) because they look nicer (DS style), but was not originally supplied at factory fit as the part number is for a 2 button one.

There were 2 options on this C4 . One version that had what they call "FRONT ACCESS + BOOT + HANDS FREE STARTING" That includes the following equipment that is NOT available under your VIN - so no middle button function as you don't have the kit below:

It uses a completely different fob to talk to the receiver unit.

That looks to me as though it's for hands-free starting. It's difficult to tell from the drawing but the text seems to say that it's a three button type remote.

Does that imply that if the car does not have hands free starting then it has to be two button? Or is there a three button non-hands-free fob/key assembly?

The 'Keyless' entry system didn't come out on the C4 until December 2014 on, so we know that won't of been available in 2011. So I suspect there will somewhere be a C4 model that uses a 3 button 'DS' style fob - as well as the 2 button version that just unlocks the boot as the middle function. Probably on the higher spec model maybe.

It did open the boot for me. Long press on the middle button opened the boot.
