Apropos that, it is the Tall Ships in Sunderland this weekend.
Won't be there personally.

Fairford air show this weekend, I've never been to it but we get quite a few planes passing over here on their way to it.

Not been out and about except to do a bit of plumbing bodgery but did take this to show the colour of the Superstar rose.
Not accurate unfortunately.

I wanted some more of these - that one is 36 years old, and also some replacement Blue Moon ones.
Looked at the prices on eBay - £84 and £138 respectively :yikes:
Did find them for much less eventually :)

I bought a rose plant from 'The original factory shop' for three quid, it's produced three nice red blossoms but they took a bit of a beating by the storm on Thursday night,

My old established reds and pinks looked good this year.

And the birds love my old frying pans as bird baths.

The bird pics were taken from inside the house through the window so are not the best.

So there I was at work on Monday. I could hear quacking. I followed the noise to find a duck at the foot of an ivy covered wall, with five ducklings at the top of the wall. They then proceded to throw themselves out of the nest at the top of the wall to join mum below.... who then led them in convoy to here......... :)

The story doesn't end there though. Later that day - more quacking........ this time from mum + 1 on one side of the wall and 4 ducklings on the other side of the wall. Once I'd returned with a suitable cardboard box I scooped them up and took a detour to get them back to mum, who then led them in convoy down to the lake.

The story doesn't end there though. This morning down by the lake there's mum wandering around quacking, sans ducklings. I've had this happen on previous years so I knew where to check - yep, down in the mill race with no hope of escpae :( So..... off to get my waders, net, and ladder and down in the mill race I go. I'm quite adept at catching ducklings now so it wasn't too much bother to scoop them up and return them to the lake with stern instructions to mum not to let this happen again :-D
All in a days work

Hedgehog shouldn't be out in daylight Neil. If you spot it again, might be worth boxing it up and taking it to the local Sanctuary. My missus encourages them: we have a family under the shed and at least one Baby this year.

Just read about it. Very likely that it was severely dehydrated, and the key advice...leave water out but do not attempt to feed. There is a local rescue nearby so if I spot it again I will give them a call.

The UK Red Church Clock List has gone up by one today.

So those within a 30 Mles Radius of Goffs Oak, Hertfordshire treat yourself to a bit of Red Church Clock spotting safe in the knowledge that unless you know different there are under 10 Red Church Clocks in the entire UK.

A very topical blue plaque, if you are a devotee of the Rusty Wrecks thread

Not difficult to find out, but I was surprised at the location, not in an obvious hotbed of car manufacturing.

Where's this then?

From www.mybrightonandhove.org.uk guess that gives away the answer to my question.

No road access to the former locomotive works where BMW set up its factory so everything came in by rail, and finished goods went out by rail...like this

Saw the hedgehog again today, much more spritely than the other day.
