strange engine in 207

Unread post by yorkie45 »

I have a 2007 Peugeot 207 1.6 HDI 110 GT, and I have had to replace various bits since buying. Both times the parts do not fit, and after some research found that although my reg states the part to fit in most sites, the actual engine resembles the Citroen variant more. The PSA DV64TED engine in mine must be rare? How do I find out what the actual engine type is for future part buying, I can see the engine block number, but have the VIN.

Hi and welcome.

Using third party sites is NO guarantee of a correct part and the reg number is in no way an indication of the correct variant.

PSA cars do share common engines and components across the range - but the actual parts required will differ according to engine options and models.

The only way you can be sure you are getting the right part is matching it up with the correct PSA part number.

If you need information on parts, just supply us with your VIN number here or by PM and we will be able to provide you with the part number. You can then use this to search for compatible aftermarket parts if you are not looking for a genuine part replacement.

Many companies have databases that are factually incorrect. Good examples are a certain auction site and a national uk auto and bike retailer as examples. I've spent time getting some of these to get their databases updated - but as you can imagine, with thousands of parts, it is an impossibility - so I can only do this when I know certain parts are factually wrong as I find them.

Getting the right part obviously saves the hassle of returns and all that rigmarole :-D
