I got a 2005 Citroën C4 VTR that I like to instal parking sensors , I have bought new sensors but I need the ECU , I have find a C4 not coupé will it fit? And it have only sensors back , can the ECU handle front to? Or will I need a ECU from a car with both front and rear sensors?

Hi

There are different ECUs for the parking assistance depending on options, year and build date of your C4. They need to be compatible. If you provide your VIN, I will look up the ECU that you need for the rear sensors only that will be compatible.

Ok, the bad news first.

There is NO Pre-wiring for the AAS (Parking Assistance System) fitted.

You would have to wire everything in yourself - but then you may find other problems:

For your C4 with build date of 10305 (25th January 2005) there is no option for ANY parking assistance showing for the 3 Door Saloon. The only option is showing for the 4/5 Door versions.

My concern is that:

1. Your C4 may not be compatible to have an OEM version fitted - specifically:
2. Your BSI will need to be configured correctly for the OEM version - but the BSI may not have the settings in there for your car, as there are 3 versions of BSI fitted on earlier models depending on equipment levels - so it may not be configurable.
3. The Dash switch would be missing too.

I have checked with Citroen Service and there re NO options for Parking Assistance for this 3 Door model for this year.

I can tell you the part numbers for the ECU for 4/5 door models that had the system fitted - but NO guarantees this will work, plus you will need to wire it to the fusebox and the BSI and then configure it (if the option is there of course).

4/5 Door Saloon
6590 KL: for the ECU
7422 33: for each Sensor
6590 F3: for the Dash Switch

I think the only solution for you is to get an aftermarket system fitted that provides a separate LED display and audio display that is wired into the back. Citroen sell these kits. They contain a sensor kit and an LED that goes into the back of the roof lining with an LED and audible signal. There are several versions depending on the electronic architecture of the vehicle.
