60 plate 1.6 egs piccaso

Unread post by renagade »

Hi Guy's , my friend has asked me about buying a 60 plate 1.6 egs Picaso with 92k but he has no service records for the car . I have the chassis noVF7 UA9HZH AJ74932 . Can this tell you if the car has had anything major wrong with it ????

Can't tell it's history; however, I would run a mile in the other direction from a 90k EGS with no history!! If the gearbox has not already been giving trouble (hence a trade in) then it will be about to go bang expensively.

Sounds like the world's worst knock off James Bond :rofl2:

But in all seriousness, I've seen quite a few threads about these EGS boxes and not many of them end well.

Too true Elis - there's less pain in the end without one of those Carlos Fandango piloted manual contraptions :-D

YES - it was built with an EGS box :-)

I drove an EGS Picasso for a bit, found it horrid and uncertain in traffic, OK bowling along but most things are.

And if it is the 1.6 HDi then that can be a huge problem all on its own.

Thanks for that Guy's,
I already have a 2011 c5 1.6 e-hdi with egs gearbox and that cost me 2k 3 months after I bought it for a new valve set for the gearbox. Now I have 85k on the car and all seems well.
