Citroën C5 X7 OSR hydraulic leak
Hi all I have developed a hydraulic leak from somewhere above the osr sphere. I can't see clearly as I don't want to crawl under the car unsupported and need to put it on a lift ideally. Have a look at the attached pictures I managed to take. What do you think? By the way way the sphere has been wiped clean and isn't new. Thanks in advance

Re: Citroën C5 X7 OSR hydraulic leak
Yep, that looks like a leaky strut to me. The spheres shouldn't leak at all - so likely to be the rear strut. You'll need to get it on a ramp so that it can be checked out, but regardless a fail for the MOT with any suspension leak.

Re: Citroën C5 X7 OSR hydraulic leak
Thanks for the quick reply, my VIN is VF7**************[VIN obfuscated, can be read by forum staff]. I have attached a couple more photos, although they don't show much else. Are the struts costly?

Part number is 527299 and they are currently £209.05 each including VAT from Citroen. Have a look elsewhere, but make sure you search on this part number as there are different versions.
Before you buy one, do get it checked, as it could be a rear suspension pipe that has corroded!
Here is the rear supply piping for example
And here the rear return piping...

Just zoomed in on the label on the photo and number 9674988580 is shown. I take it this is the part number I need? Is this the same part as the number you gave me? Thanks again for your help.

Re: Citroën C5 X7 OSR hydraulic leak
Have you checked the bellows and return pipes for leaks there rather than the strut itself? I had a huge leak on my Mk1 when the flexy hose on the return circuit split. And I've seen posts here about split bellows.
Also, are the O-rings available for the strut like they are for the Mk1 C5? A much cheaper fix if they are.

No, these are completely different setups Paul, they are not separate and no clips o rings available. It a completely new strut if that is where the leak is and if it’s not a leak in the piping.

Re: Citroën C5 X7 OSR hydraulic leak
Stick to the part number I have given you as that is the Citroen part number and is correct. That other number is the international number - but there are a lot of sellers that put similar parts together under the same number and you could end up with the wrong one. The number I have given you is the OEM number used by PSA and guarantees the correct part number. Here’s a link for a slightly cheaper one. If you are Googling just search on ‘Citroen 527299’. But do get it checked first in case it is a pipe.

Here's the diagrams Paul and as you can see the boot on the X7 does not contain the return piping - that is handled by the hydraulic block now. Nor are there any replaceable seals and clips on the newer design - it's an all in one solution and I believe is bonded rubber to metal!

Re: Citroën C5 X7 OSR hydraulic leak
I finally have my car back from Citroën after the first attempt to fix the leak failed when both rear struts and spheres were replaced. I took it back in and the nsr hydraulic pipe has now been replaced. I've had a good look and it seems to have fixed it. Luckily I have 5 months Citroën select warranty left and paid nothing. Result!

Re: Citroën C5 X7 OSR hydraulic leak
That sounds like the same pipe as mine - failed on the bend in the pipe - they say was probably weakened during manufacturing, but they found mine first time - I wish they hadn't now, as I could of had a new set of rear spheres and struts! Lucky so and so

Re: Citroën C5 X7 OSR hydraulic leak
Hello, dear colleagues. I have just bought a new strut for the rear suspension, due to a leakage which was increasing. I hope that I will be able to replace it. In the attached photo you can see my current strut.
My basically question would be if the pipes for LDS are connected directly to the strut body and if so, where?
As an assumption, the following steps must be accomplished for the replacement:
System depressurization
Car on the elevator
Sphere unmount
Screws unmount
Are there some hints to be followed?
Thank you very much.

Ok, here you go: I know you have Diagbox, so in your case it will be easier to depressurise the system using that - although you can disconnect the battery and depressurise the rear axle manually only if you want. Let me know if you want to do that.
