Hi guys,
The good lady has her new car now, Partner xtr hdi '58 reg, is a brilliant wagon, very impressed, only upgrade I'd like to have would be an all in one nav unit, current unit is the standard rd4, looking through for the oem unit and screen is Very pricey, before looking at lexia/pug planet software and laptop to validate it all, So, nosing at the Xtrons units on ebay, along the lines of http://vi.vipr.ebaydesc.com/ws/eBayISAP ... cureDesc=0
The only concerns i have is that it seems a Fair few controls are done via the radio menu, auto locking, park distance control, display brightness, etc. What i cant seem to find the answer for is whether the the functions are all lost (stalk controls work through the new unit) or if they can be used with the new unit? The small upper screen, in our case screen a according to the manual will stay for time, temp, trips etc. Just the fitting of the double unit (along with optional reverse camera) for the nav screen,
Any one had any experience of this??

Unfortunately you will lose the menus with an aftermarket infotainment system. Only the OEM sat nav headhunts retain the menu functionality. If you go down that route though you will need access to Lexia to enable all of the menu options you currently have on your RD4 system, if not already enabled.

Yes - if you are going to upgrade, stick within the OEM offerings compatible with your vehicle. Head units do more than play tunes

Re: Partner/Berlingo radio change to double din nav unit
Trouble with the oem ones are mainly Cost! Rt4/5 plus screen is around the £260 mark, not having lexia either is an addition cost although spread out over a much longer period, i k nk ow some clarion double units were offered by dealerships, but they are £450/500, something like the xtrons with the reverse camera is 160ish, makes a significant saving, there is one unit that a Russian has fitted that carries all the menus but they are wholesale only and very difficult to get a price for,
I know if i need to adjust anything through the radio i can always pop the old one back inof needs be,

Looking at that link - you'll find a lot of the add-on modules are 'optional' so don't forget to factor the cost in. I also note the bit about the steering wheel control support 'Analogue' systems. I can't be sure but you may have an issue if it is not CAN compatible as the steering module under the steering wheel (Comms Unit) often handles the data for the steering wheel controls and everything else through to the BSI / Head unit and if it is using a CAN data bus then that may be an issue for this intended unit.

A few of the xtrons units are canbus compatible, 2 different cameras Are either 20 or 30 extra, sub 200 with camera and nav set up,
