C5 aircon

Hi all,

I got my C5 aircon regassed last Wednesday, as there was no cold air coming from it. Last time I checked it was about 6 months ago, and it was ok then.

They pressure tested it before refilling, and all was fine until saturday.

Then I had no more cold air, and the fans were barely blowing (even on max setting there was only a trickle of air). The fan was definitely in full swing as I could hear it.. Left the car overnight, and the fans are back to blowing at full speed.

However, still no cold air from the Aircon.

Could the Aircon have a leak and caused it to drop all the gas, or could there be another issue?

I wondered if I should take it to someone who puts dye thought the system, or do something else.

When did you last change it ?

I haven't.. Only had the car six months.
I guess you are referring to the pollen filter?

If you lose the air flow after a period when the A/C is on, then most likely the evaporator is iced up. If you knock off the A/C for 10 minutes or so it will unfreeze and air flow will resume. Our 'old' C4 Picasso does (well did, as the gas is seeping out, so it's a bit weedy at the moment!) this - there is supposed to be an anti-icing cut out, but it doesn't seem to work on ours - even though the temperature looks to be above freezing when interrogated with Lexia. I assume that either the sensor has fallen off the evaporator, or is no longer reading correctly. It's OK when you understand what is going on and can turn off the A/C; usually you don't realise till you are feeling really rather stuffy and hot!

Would that cause the airflow to essentially stop though? Even with AC turned off, there was still no flow.

Flow still seems to be working ok, but definitely no cold air from the AC. I can only imagine the gas has leaked out?

You should be going back to whoever re-gassed it to let them advise and maybe try again.
