I wonder if this was related to a fuse box issue? Can't tell from the plate as it is in Europe somewhere I suspect.

I hope that wasn't a petrol model. You wouldn't find me within a hundred yards if it was!

Oh dear, that's awful. Looks like the entire undertray caught fire then dropped off under the car.

Re: X7 on Fire
I know - that bloke's a bit brave and probably has a death wish.
I saw this one on a MKII (facelift) model, and the clue was in the chap saying that his turbo had been 'serviced' 2 months earlier, and that the turbo had probably broken up and the oil had ignited from the exhaust...

I think with 3 extinguishers already spent (I assume) and lying next to the car on the verge he would have given up by now!Paul-R wrote: 26 May 2018, 11:44 I hope that wasn't a petrol model. You wouldn't find me within a hundred yards if it was!

You'd also think the fire service would have showed up by then.

Re: X7 on Fire
just a thought further to this.... I'm one for browsing Youtube and if you don't know how to stop a Runaway Diesel, find out*, one day you might just be glad you did; there's an awful lot self-destructing there.

Re: X7 on Fire
Statistically, I think that engine fires are mostly caused by oil or fuel leaking onto an exhaust manifold.
