One of the main differences between the DW8 and DW8B is that the DW8B has an electronic advance, controlled by an ECU which reads data from a MAF sensor, and maybe some other sensors (I'd love to know what else).
That said, I have a Bosch pump attached to my 1999 DW8 Dispatch and in the event that I let go of this van and get another, I'd love to transfer my Bosch pump to the new engine.
Is there any reason I couldn't do that? Assumedly the ECU would serve no function after that too, and could be removed - could anyone confirm?
Can I transfer an injection pump from a non-ECU DW8 to a DW8B?

I appreciate you are talking about a pump specifically, but in the case of the chap below looking at an engine swap between a C3 and 206 variant, there are differences in the injections ECU systems:

I would need the VIN codes of the 2 vehicles in order to see if there area differences in other systems that would affect the swap.

It's worth pointing out that the DW8 (non-B) is entirely mechanical - I don't have an ECU at all in mine. The only thing tied to the car is the immobiliser to the key chip, but that's already been dealt with on mine.
Looks like the C3/206 guy is talking about the HDi which is entirely different afaik.
I'll PM you my VIN and one of another DW8B. Mne was factory fitted with a Lucas pump - I've had that swapped for a Bosch one.

I thought I'd put the diagrams of the 2 pumps up for comparison - and you can see that from the pictures they do look very different in places.
| Pump Part: 1920 6K DW8 | Pump Part: 1920 AP DW8B |

Hmm, so they do. I wonder how much that matters though. I can see the timing belt sprocket is the same, depends what that pipe coming out the top is for - fuel return maybe?
I guess the question comes down to whether the injectors are any different, and the pipes will fit in place. I have a Citroen Service account myself so I'll take a look around there.
I guess the question is whether these differences will mean they can't be interchanged, or if it should be OK

Re: Can I transfer an injection pump from a non-ECU DW8 to a DW8B?
Checked a few part numbers:
Pipe Set Injector:
DW8 1570 81
DW8B 1570 A4
Injector:
DW8 1984 C7
DW8B 1984 C7
TDC Sensor:
DW8: 5718 93
DW8B: N/A
Looks like things are pretty similar but not identical. Crucially the injectors themselves are the same part between the two. The biggest difference is the TDC sensor, which is replaced with the engine speed sensor and MAF stuff with an electronic control.
It still looks possible that replacing the fuel pump is feasible and it just wouldn't make any use of the electronic gubbins.
Thoughts?

I think the answer to that will be trial and error, as there is very little in the way of documentation available on the older engines and associated components, especially as to how they interact, unlike the newer engines with their myriad of control mechanisms.
