306 front hub

Unread post by farmboy »

hello again, does anyone know where i can get longer wheel bolts from, mine dont reach all the way through the hub on my 306DT. plus how hard is it to change the hub that the bolts go into, sometime ago a helpfull tyre fitter crossthreaded the bolt, have to tap it out every time i remove the wheel, dont think it will hold up much longer.

Hi there
Firstly why do you need longer bolts? Have you purchaced ally wheels to replace steel ones. If so you will need to go back to the wheel supplier and ask the. You can not use bolts designed for steel wheels on ally wheels and visa versa as the taper is angled different and could end up splitting you wheel !!!!
Invest in a Haynes manual, its pricless, all you need to know is there, what isnt someone here should know.
Good luck

You should ensure you have the correct wheel bolts immediately.
Assuming all bolts are the same then surely none of them will be long enough.
Seems silly to keep driving the car, get a competent mechanic to check it out for you before a wheel falls off!

Regards the hub, get one from a breakers, piece of P to swap, knock it off the strut then off the balljoint and remove driveshaft. About 2 hours work tops.

Definately get an hub from a breakers.
When you take the hub off at the yard, give it a good spin to check the bearing, and ask the guy to mark where the bearing is on the hub, so if the bearing is faulty you can take it back and get another.
P.S. Take a mate as a witness. [:)]
