Ive noticed that a lot of you have fitted the dreaded plastic clip to the pedal. Haynes suggests that you can do it without taking off the fascia, but I cant get at either the cable or the end of the pedal. Even if I could I couldnt see what I was doing. Is it really necessary to take off the whole thing or can you remove just the lower bit under the steering wheel?

Not many folk seem to be able to get the pedal pivot bolt out without reaching for a saw of some kind, this baffles me somewhat, I know its possible, Iv'e done it and re-used the same bolt put back in with a spacer on it, car is a R97 td lx.
First time you do it will take a while as it did for me, (but I also took the steering column to bits looking for an airbag fault at the same) timesecond time round I could do complete clip change in about half hour.
