S1 Activa model differences and what's meant to do what...

Unread post by wurlycorner »

I've noticed some differences between my 96 (N) reg Activa and the (P) reg Activa...

1. On the P reg Activa, the passenger side wing mirror dips and angles in automatically when I select reverse. The N reg doesn't. Should it? Or is this something that was added within the first year?
2. The N reg Activa has a key switch in the skuttle panel to switch off the alarm sounder. The P reg doesn't and doesn't have an electrical connector in that area either, to suggest it has been removed. Was this another mod made within the first year?

Are there any other functional/equipment differences between N and P reg?

Just to update this... Checked the registration docs and both are '96 models (the black one first registered Jan 96, the green first registered October 96).

I will try and get the ORGA dates and post those up...

The early Activas were quite different in trim specification from the later ones... N reg. ones (with the all black interior) I'd call a phase 1 and lacked a lot of what appeared in the P reg. and onward. I'd call these a Phase 1.5 Activa...

The 1.5, for instance, had wood-effect dash and Aircon for instance whereas the Phase1 didn't. The Phase 1.5 lost the really dark interior too..

Cosmetic only as there's no significant mechanical or suspension-related differences...

Didn't realise my black one was quite that rare (among Activa's I mean - it being a given that they're a rare beast anyway!)

Oh yes, those really early dark interior Phase 1s are very rare now... A special subset of rarity ;)

Black headlining as well ?

I have blacked off my screen pillar trim (was grey) as it improves visibility not having a large (ish) grey bar in my cross car vision (being a LHD)

Yes, black headlining too. And black plastic trim where in the later cars it was grey... It was like driving the black hole of Calcutta

I actually rather liked it...

LOL, I thought about colouring the headlining but thought it would be a little dark in there.
