Unread post by Timmo »

Figured last night id have a nose through what was on ebay, only 1 listed? 1 solitary xantia, there had been a good 20 or so on there every time I previously looked?? Are we really in the minority now??

You're out of touch - Xantia's "left the building" a few years ago now in the UK!

They are indeed very rare, especially good condition ones, and I suspect most of the remaining ones are owned by forum members.

I haven't seen another one besides mine on the road for a very long time now. I think I've had one sighting in the last 2-3 years, and I drive nearly 40 miles a day so have plenty of opportunity for car spotting.

I rarely see them 'in the wild' any more and when I do it's notable...

I think we all forget the passage of time and how the youngest Xantia is now over 18... That's old for a car... Heck, even cars half that age are not now very common - up our way at any rate...

How many left currently showing only 1972 taxed, with a further 2514 on SORN. Down from a peak of 130,500 in 2001!

Walking back to the house on Friday while it was still light (for the 1st time in months) I was surprised to see Xsara parked by the kerb. Then realised it was outside the house next door to the one where a Xantia had lived for so long it didn't really register, but it seems, over the winter, that has given way to an Octavia, of all things. Wish I'd known he was getting rid, don't 'spect he got much for it against the Octavia.

Still see Xantias about in Torbay though - often wonder who looks after them.

But Timmo's right, there were always a good selection on e-bay, at least 'til very recently.
