Hello
This is my first post to this forum!
I have a Peugeot 308 GT 2008 with a RT4.
I putted an amplifier that was faulty and I damaged my source!
My electrician cannot find any guide to fix this problem and I am very sad about this!
I think my only option is to buy a new/used one...
Do you have any suggestions?
Thank you in advance!

Re: RT4 Amplifier Compatibility
Hi and welcome.
Can you please try and provide more details as to what the problem is as it is not clear?
Are you saying the amplifier is damaged or the RT4 is not working?
If the RT4, what is not working? Does it turn on or are some of the functions not working?

The RT4 is working but when I remove the key or when I open the car, a loud scratch sounds from the speakers!
My electrician said that one capacitor is damaged but he doesn't know who specific...

Re: RT4 Amplifier Compatibility
Cracking or scratching can be when too much current is being pushed through the speakers - or a surge jumping over a broken or bad wiring connection from the amp.
Remember that the BSI wakes up certain networks when the cart is unlocked or a door opened - and also provides power for a certain time before economy mode kicks in when removing the key from the ignition. So I would check that you speaker wires aren't causing a short somewhere - but may be difficult to trace. If you paid to have it professionally installed - get them to resolve it.

Re: RT4 Amplifier Compatibility
No, not for the internal unit itself - you would have to contact MM themselves for this - or one of their authorised repair centres. I appreciate you are in Greece, but there are 2 I know of that deal with these repairs - so it will mean sending it off if you suspect the Head unit itself.
Se my post here for details. It might be more cost effective to source another Head Unit - but get a quote anyway - no harm in doing that. I would suggest that if you are going to add an amp - get something compatible. You might want to contact member EDC5 via PM, who has installed a third party amplifier in his C5 X7 and has recently upgraded to RT4 - maybe he can recommend the amp he used....

Re: RT4 Amplifier Compatibility
Is this one compatible with my screen?
https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Autoradio-CD ... 1438.l2649
because if I am gonna buy a RT6 I think that I have to buy the high res screen!

Re: RT4 Amplifier Compatibility
That is not the RT6 (RNEG2) - that one in the link is MyWay (RNEG) - as it has an SD card slot (bottom middle). The MyWay does not need the High Res colour display - but the RT6 (eMyWay or RNEG2) does.

Re: RT4 Amplifier Compatibility
I'm not sure if it's normal but if I start the RT4 up when it is fully asleep I get a 'pop' from the speakers as the RT4's DAC turns on. I don’t get this if i unlock the car and then turn on the ignition as the RT4 has time to turn on before my external amplifier is switched on.

I had the same pop sound when I had the amplifier on!

Re: RT4 Amplifier Compatibility
All the RNEG units have navigation.
But I really would consider the cause of the problem first or the same will happen to the new unit - though I’m not sure if you have an actual problem if the unit is functioning correctly apart from the popping noise.
Insulating the wires properly from any of the CAN or live wiring may be a good start.

Re: RT4 Amplifier Compatibility
They don't use SD cards, but are updated using the USB port. So if you don't have this, you can't update the system or the maps. This should be one of the important things to check before upgrading. If you don't have the USB, you should be able to get the cable and port fittings from your dealer.
