Highest output LED DRLs

Post by bobins »

As you all seem to be an educated lot, I thought I'd ask here. :)
I'm working on alternatives for a 'domestic' style lighting system using 12 or 24 volt DC lighting. Ideally these should NOT be downlighters / spotlights as I want an all-round light. My thoughts turned to LED daytime running lights and ideally with a MR16 or GU5.3 type fitting - though as long as the lamp connections are flexible, anything similar to an MR16 or GU5.3 would do. I'm also after the highest reliable light output possible. Anyone got any ideas or got any recommendations ? What's the latest recommendation for replacement lamps for the C5 X7 halogen DRLs ?

Would something like this be suitable.

The strips can be very bright - I don't see the need for the rainbow lighting personally, I just use LED ribbon but not in such extensive applications.

I did experimentally run a three metre ribbon along the picture rail in our sitting room (only one wall) and it was exceptionally bright and a very pleasant almost shadow free illumination

These strip LEDs could do the job...

Those are 600-led per roll. A 300-led version also available, at about 2/3 the price.
Available in Warm White, too, which might suit your decor.

Have used these, in various lengths, for various tasks, including backlighting dash displays and boot lighting.

Ah ! I should have made clear - there's a need to use more or less conventional light fittings, so although strip lighting would work, I'm limited to somehow fitting the lamps into regular lighting fittings.
....although having said that, I wonder if the cuttable strip LEDs could be made to work ???? :)
