Spotted the new 40kWh 2018 Leaf on the way to work this morning - I think!! They have only JUST started appearing on UK roads.

Pretty certain it said Leaf on the rear as it passed me but it didn't have the butt ugly styling of the previous models of Leaf.

How is it throw away ?
On the assumption that any sane person wouldn't pay £16k for a battery! (and that's the price it would seem from speaking to my dealer today whilst getting some bump stops done on the C3) :-D

Just because it's got an 8 year warranty doesn't mean it won't fail after 4, it just means, if they can't wriggle out of it, it'll only cost 1/2 an amount you can't afford to replace it. Just out of curiosity, are these warranties transferable?

My point was you don't give an 8 year battery and drive train warranty if "the batteries have to be replaced every 4 years" as claimed by the PSA employee.... That would be a sure recipe to go out of business.

If by transferable you mean to a new owner when the car is sold, yes it is, as I'm not the original owner of the car and the warranty still applies. (Which I confirmed with Peugeot before buying the car)

I saw the e-NV200 again this morning - it has taxi plates on it; don't recall seeing them before.

I wonder if any of the new 40kWh e-NV200's are out in the wild in the UK yet ? I think they launched together with the 40kWh Leaf. The Nissan UK website still talks about the 24kWh model though.

They would have an almost useful (for a local delivery van) range of around 130 miles, compared to the original e-NV200 which is only about 70 miles at best!

Here's quite an interesting review of the new London Hybrid black cab, done by Fully Charged:

The general opinion seems to be that its a very nice taxi on many angles and vastly superior to the noisy clunky old black cabs that it replaces!

One thing I found quite interesting is report from a taxi driver that has switched from the previous Diesel black cab to one of these that he could only ever manage 20MPG no matter how he drove in the old Diesel cab - presumably partly due to a lot of idling waiting for fares and the constant stop start traffic and average 8mph speed through London... and apparently even in range extender mode with the little 1.5 litre 3 cylinder petrol running to charge the battery he can mange over 50MPG on this one, quite a difference, even before you factor in even cheaper running from the part of your mileage you can manage from charging only!

BTW did I mishear or did the guy from LEVC accidentally say that it was a 1.5 litre 3 1/2 cylinder engine ? :rofl2:

I saw another Ion yesterday - Sky blue 11 plate, parked next to it at Cit/Pug Glasgow whilst looking for another car.

Spotting one at a Peugeot dealer is cheating Richard, especially when there is an active airbag recall underway... :rofl2:

Electric buses are 'old hat' van I had a ride or two on the originals of these years ago.

You know, they do look vaguely familiar - but that's LA, where anything goes AND is quickly forgotten.

I suppose what grabbed my attention was one unexpectedly appearing on a Paris street!

Another sighting I forgot was an all electric Moke, on the converter's stand at Retromobile. Quite a fun citycar (but only in the summer in Northern Europe) - but where do they get all their Mokes?
