PE Jukebox Singalonga Cheesefest!

Post by NewcastleFalcon »

Remember these?

Those were number one albums in 1971 so time to pick out a track for fun :-D
Sorry folks this is the genuine "Top of the Pops" treatment...it's not that good, not quite Middle of the Road :!: :-D

PE Jukebox-2CELLOS &William Wild

Post by NewcastleFalcon »

New for today, checked out a couple of recommendations today. So quite prepared to give them an audition at the Pickled Egg.

First up "2CELLOS" the clue is in the name. They do a lot of stuff and are very entertaining. Ever wondered what ACDC would sound like if they had plumped for Cello's instead of Electric Guitars?

Second up William Wild. Probably most noted now for his song Feather which plays over the closing credits of the film "Wind River" (2017). The rest of that soundtrack is written by Nick Cave and Warren Ellis.

Really liking JJ Cale Anthology

This is a gorgeous track

Now I do have a wide musical taste but that track had me singing some of the lyrics to this one (in the privacy of my own vehicle of course!) along to the JJCale track......"Take my hand, come with me baby to loveland, let me show you how sweet it could be, sharin' love with me" !!!! :-D .... try it

There is a similar "vibe"

Only ever seen them in black & white (TV)

An alternative version.

Seen them perform this a couple of times and met Margo. Lovely woman.

Somewhere I've got a wonderful version of Cowboy Junkies' cover of Powderfinger. This version is a bit too vibrant for me, but you get the idea....

Junkies are unique.
I spotted a CD on the shelf in the library when I went to collect my daughter who worked there. Thought that they would be dire or brilliant, fortunately the latter.
As is Elina Garanca, just watch her expressions, especially the eyes, and she is a riot towards the end, teasing the conductor.

Post by NewcastleFalcon »

Its been quite a good day for decent tracks on the radio for me...

Started out with Wilson Phillips with what is in my opinion an absolutely tremendous song.....has a place already on the PE Jukebox-here

Next up Jethro Tull Living in the Past

Then a gentle little ditty from Eric Clapton

The female voice on the Eric Clapton song is Marcella Detroit (previously Levy). She has writing credits on Clapton's song Lay Down Sally, which after listening to my JJ Cale Anthology has a very JJ Cale-esque feel to it.

I'm sure she has done some decent enough stuff for an appearance in her own right. She was part of Shakespeare's Sister.

I really, really wanted to post a couple of tracks by Lill Lindfors, have the LP from the early seventies.
They were covers but I had, shamefully, never heard the originals :( I liked her covers though, despite much of her work being rather dire.
Blåjeans och Stjärnlus.
Fiskar'n o Jungfrun
Sundown
Aria
Unfortunately unavailable outside Sweden on YouTube :(

PS You may like an occasional bit of Vangelis...this track was used in one of the "space" documentaries I have recently watched from his "Rosetta" album
