106 Immobiliser

Unread post by Pug106Dave »

I have a mark 1 106 diesel, with an immobiliser that operates by a keyfob (I believe it to be original as I've seen other 106's with the same setup). However recently it's started playing up! I de-arms as usual with a beep and the LED goes green, turn ignition dash lights up as usual, glow plugs go on, and off, then when I turn to crank the starter nothing at all happens.
Tonight I tried repeatedly and nothing so I leaft it for 30mins came back and it started perfectly first time!
Any ideas what the problem could be?

You do not mention the year but in general the 106 immobiliser does not shut the starter down. This sounds like an igntion swith problen or the switched feed to the pre engage solenoid. Meter this connection whilst some one turns the key. You will find you can bump start the car OK. Regards Peter

Sorry its a 1996, 1.5D. Guess that means I should try to find the solenoid then! I'm sure it must be under there somewhere, not much room round this engine tho!

The Solenoid is the small round object adjacent to the starter motor main body and the main 12V big cable goes to it and a small wire which is the feed to the ignition switch. Check the all the connection and monitor the problem. Regards Peter
